Advantages: Greats to listen to when in a romantic moods!

...Robi Rosa, Robi Rosa. Now that name does sound familer. Ah yes! He the guy behind the massive hits of 1999 with some latin guy name Ricky Martin and 'livin la vida loca'. Wheather or not if you are a fan of the 'loca' crazy of 1999 you cannot escape and help notice the pure talents behind that song. And yes Robi Rosa was the guy! He now quit writing with his old mate to record for his own albums. Mad love i believes to be 3 years in the making and this is a pure albums of love ballard and heartfelt rock songs written from the heart. This album is dedicated to his wife 'Angela'. The First track of the albums is 'dancing in the rains'. Now i leave it to your imagination to where he going with this song but It a smooth jazzy songs that you would put on after you puts the kids to bed. The emotions and feeling he puts in this songs can... Read review

Wave of Mutilation
Review of Wave Of Mutilation (Best Of Pixies) - Pixies by CarlMcQ

Advantages: A fine collection
Disadvantages: Some people may find it just too alternative.....

...Some argue Nirvana were the definition of 'grunge', others say the Pixies were...I can't see the comparison to be fair, the Pixies rather encapsulate the definition of Indie and Alternative music, and this is the 'best of' collection that they deserve - 23 tracks to showcase the Pixies history from their five albums - 'Come on Pilgrims', 'Surfer Rosa' the classic 'Doolittle', 'Bossanova' and 'Trompe le Monde' - all made within a five year time-span. The opening two tracks - 'Bone Machine', from 'Surfer Rosa', and 'Nimrod's Son' classify the alternative-ness to the Pixies style, and as my 'Disadvantages' state - it may just be TOO alternative for some, faint-hearted traditionalists, with the rhythm jumping about all over the place to Frank Black's shouting and grooving - to those new to the Pixies, you may instantly say "he can't sing... Review of Surfer Rosa - Pixies by Tarquin_Farquart

Advantages: Brillant songs
Disadvantages: So badly recorded it's not funny

...Surfer Rosa is my favourite Pixies release. OK, it's not as good technically as Doolittle, (in fact is one of the worst recorded things I've ever heard) but the songs still shine through - my favourites being Gigantic (sung by future Breeders singer Kim Deal under the name of Mrs John Murphy) and Where is My Mind? which showed that under all the shouting they could do a slow number. Overall though (especially when coupled with Come On Pigrim - as it is on the CD reissue) it is a very good buy - although i would recommend Doolittle if it was the first Pixies album you were thinking of buying.....
