Advantages: It's Bette Midler!, nice to sit on sofa with hot chocolate Disadvantages: some people might find it a bit depressing - personal taste!
...This CD is the soundtrack to the awesome 1991 film 'Beaches', which starred BetteMidler and Barbara Hershey. It is a story about two of the bestest friends, they're friends for life, and face many trials and difficulties during their lives - which they help each other with. They argue too, of course.
The music comprises of some original material written for the film, such as Oh Industry and The Glory Of Love, and some old favourites - like Wind Beneath My Wings and Bette's cover of Under The Boardwalk.
HIGHLIGHTS: Wind Beneath My Wings, The Glory Of Love, I Think It's Gonna Rain Today
LOWLIGHTS: I Know You By Heart
Track 1 - Under The Boardwalk - Bette's cover of Under The Boardwalk is awesome. It's slower, more synthy, and more Midlery. It shows off her voice very well. I like it! And one of the bits I love, it begins...

Advantages: Lovely songs Disadvantages: not so good if you've never seen the film.
...This cd is the soundtrack from the film of the same name.
It is a very sad film starin BetteMidler and Barbra Hershey. It is a very sad story about two best friends. So this cd is also quite sad music, to go along with the story line. There are some faster songs, but not many.

Back ground of cd
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This cd was first brought out in 1988, when the film was released. It's a Atlantic records label, so is american based. All the vocals on the album are sung by BetteMidler herself. So if you are a bettemidler fan, you may like this even if you haven't seen the film.
Songs
~~~~~
There are only ten songs on this cd. It lasts just over half an hour. So you could just put it on if you haven't much time. Quite alot of the songs are cover versions. But Bettemidler does them justice...

Advantages: Paved the way for every great guitar band since 1989. Disadvantages: Slightly muted production, "Don't Stop".

Writing reviews on albums by The Stone Roses, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin et al will always run the risk of carrying the cache of pointlessness. Those who love bands such as these (or other canonical 'greats') will not need any further eulogies to strengthen their ardour. Those who hate them will never have their minds changed.
However, I think it is important that when something is generally considered to be a work of genius that it is highlighted and reappraised down the ages, as a landmark, or a piece of treasure. That is, after all, what led me to this album in the first place.
As a country, we have been very lucky to produce some of the finest...
