Music for all
Review of Favourite Movie Classics by  robin_best

Advantages: Some Excellent powerful songs
Disadvantages: Some songs that I don't understand

...the ship is docking. Track 5: Song to the Moon from Rusalka - Dvorak From Driving miss Dasy This track is another opera which I cant understand, it has a sombre feel but nothing like Adagio for Strings’ one. Track 6: Dan cog the hours from La Gioconda – Ponchielli From Fantasia The start of this song bring across the feeling of something sneaking around then it goes on like something big has happened and it speeds up and gets more thunderous as the song gets to the end. Track 7: Adagio from Clarinet Concerto in A, K622 – Mozart From Out of Africa This song also brings across a feeling of loss or something bad has happened as it is slow paced. Track 8: The Thieving Magpie Overtune – Rossini From A Clockwork Orange This song it like its name suggests as its starts off slow, like the magpie is sneaking around and is looking for stuff... Harry Potter III: The Prisoner of Azkaban
Review of Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban - John Williams by  berlioz

Advantages: Shows Williams at the top of his form as regards the Harry Potter series
Disadvantages: With so much new material, the old themes have been almost completely omitted

...in excitement, the music is then interpolated with Hedwig's theme and then returns to its initial mood for a satisfying conclusion. "Double Trouble" gives us a darker version of a Home Alone Christmas song, with ominous undertones to make it more dark without loosing its holiday feeling. The music makes further appearances in the cues "Secrets of the Castle," "Hagrid the Professor" and "The Portrait Gallery." "The Patronus Light" presents music of almost angelic beauty and virtue, with a female chorus humming the theme in a very pure light. The patronus light theme makes a further appearance in "Finale" mixed with Harry's family theme. There are also many great separate moments infused into the score. "Aunt Marge's Waltz" is a whimsical cue, full of comic humour with parodical references to Rossini's Overture to La Gazza Ladra (The Thieving Magpie... Read review

A Clockwork Orange - The Way Wendy Wanted It
Review of Clockwork Orange, A - Original Soundtrack by  Potless

Advantages: Highly original realisation, still sounds fresh today
Disadvantages: None

...with its dour, doom-laden introduction, and some bizarre sound effects which remind me of the word “tolchock” (Nadsat meaning “to hit”). Perhaps that was Wendy’s intention? You can almost smell the fear and paranoia of an entire nation submerged in “ultra-violence” and youth run amok, as on screen the ominous titles roll over the luridly coloured background. 4. La Gazza Ladra (The Thieving Magpie) (5.50) In contrast to the previous track, this is a lively, humorous piece of froth by Rossini. This particular recording was not used by Kubrick in the film, instead an orchestral version provided the background music to a gang fight between Alex’s droogs and Billyboys’ scruffy chain-wielding mob. Wendy’s interpretation is light, airy and fun, incorporating some nice string effects... Read review
