The first track ROTTEN APPLE features Mobb Deep member Prodigy and 50 cent, a great tune to kick off the album Lloyd Banks opening verse flows like a river and with 50 Cent in the chorus he also has a typical 2nd verse. Prodigy( one half of Mobb Deep) has the 3rd verse and goes well with the G-Unit flow. The tune is basiclly about how they all bust theie guns and get their dough.
Track 2 Survival, Lloyd Banks delivary on this tune is fantastic and if you have listened to Banks before you will apreciate the way he flows. Its a story about him and how he grew up to be a famous rapstar he talks a little about
his familly and his general lifestyle and of course there is added heat to the tune as he threatens anyone who wants to mess with him
The 3rd track PLAYBOY 2 is a remix to the tune PLAYBOY in Banks first album "Hunger For More" and although the actuall tune might seem repetative Lloyd Banks contiues his amazing flow and also continues rapping about himself with the cars he drives, the guns he uses, the drinks he drinks, and of course those hoes!
And so comes the 4th track with the hit single THE CAKE features 50 Cent, this is a total classic from Banks as he starts of the rap like so:"I get the Cake n**** The Unit dont play we rap but we strap,Buck got the shotgun 50 got the Mac, Spider got the sweep and you gon hear it clap, want have another birthday after that! cause Yayo gotta temper he dont know how to act, and ive been gone all winter but now a n**** back to get the Money Money Money CAKE...you muthaf****** lookin like steak!" then it goes into an sublime lyrical rap which is about money and with a good 50 Cent verse it makes a G-Unit classic. I personally cant rate this rap tune highly enough, its all about how much money thay have made and are going to make and of course more guns and hoes!
Track 5 MAKE A MOVE has a very Rock style beat but with a smooth droan and Banks slowing his rap down slightly but still keeping the standard up he still keeps is gangster. Another catchy chorus that is good to rap along to especially after a few drinks! but the tune is still basiclly about money guns and hoes Bnaks really does have a lot to say about these things.
Track 6 HANDS UP featuring 50 Cent another hit single which is a tune that would be great at a concert with 50 Cent telling everyone put their hands up, with an adrenaline rushed type tune Lloyd Banks explains how G-unit do in the club and with unlimated money life is good. 50 Cent creates another classic chorus and it tunes like this that really remind you why G-unit run the rap game just now.
Track 7 HELP when listening to this make sure you got the lights dimmed and a hot girl beside you, because this is one for the ladies, Banks raps about how to he gets a girl and without any clechays he descirbes making his move and getting her number etc. Keri Helson who sings beautifuly in the chorus shows she has potential. Lloyd Banks doesnt ususally make slow beats like this but it suprisingly works really well.
On to Track 8 ADDICTED featuring Musiq Soulchild another suprisingly slow beat with Musiq Soulchild singing in the chorus proving that even a guys singing voice can work on these types of tunes. Lloyd Banks gets it back to more gangster ryhmes than the last tune and as the tune goes on you find yourself in a trance listening to another brilliant flow.
Track 9 YOU KNOW THE DEAL featuring Rakim, this is personally my favourite tune on the album with beat getting back to gangster bascics! This rap tune has it all this is Lloyd Banks at his best with phenominal punch lines like: "I gotta fur fetish a three quarter cut habbit, n**** that aint chinchilla thats plucked parrot part rabbit"! every lyric is superb in this and Rakim is in the chorus but only says: "Know the deal its all the doller bill, get dough for real the only way that i can chill" this tune is all about Banks and his true talent for rapping proving he is not to be messed with in the rap game.
Track 10 GET CLAPPED featuring Mobb Deep, since Mobb Deep signed with G-unit almost 2 years ago they maybe havnt been quit at their best...until now, this tune is a dream come true with Lloyd Banks flowing at his best and Mobb Deep clearly prove why they have been successful for many years, the Chorus has all 3 rappers rapping at the same time that brings of a very moving tune. Even though Banks raps aboout his money and guns you have to give credit to Mobb Deep who come across as confident and real.
Tracl 11 STRANGER after the last couple of tunes possibly peaking this album you begin to think what Banks has left in the locker...well he keeps it going as we have a mystirious tune to this once again fantastic flow and delivary. Its a really cool tune and Banks keeps it gangster to the core as he spits about his diamonds and guns. The chorus for me is brilliant and really good to rap along to.
TRACK 12 CHANGE as the album seems to be chilling out this is another gangster beat with a piano playing in the backround which brings a chilling feel to this one. Banks sits crazy on this and is basiclly saying if you f*** with than...you dead! Banks consistancy is really good and yet another chorus you can rap along to.
TRACK 13 NY NY featuring Tony Yayo, this tune is actually produced by Eminem and Lloyd Banks raps about life in his home state...New York. He speaks from what happens in the hoods and how you have to keep on your toes especially if dont have a gat! Tony Yayo who has been said to be a weak link for G-Unit in the past spits a decent 16bars but really its Banks who makes this a good tune.
TRACK 14 ONE NIGHT STAND featuring Keon Bryce when you thought youd hears the last of Banks slow jams hear comes another. This is more of a slow thinking tune its more about what happens if you go with a certain girl and Banks explains maybe a couple of experiences he has had with the hoes.Keon Bryce sings well in the chorus to make it another tune for the ladies!
TRACK 15 ICEMAN featuring Young Buck, Scarface,8Ball a crazy tune as Banks refers himself as Iceman as he raps all about his diamonds and jewels. G-unit memeber Young Buck comes in and spits a great verse as always with a couple of whitty punch lines. A special guest appearance from Scarface and 8ball proves to work wonders and as this tune goes on you come to realise this is a classic. Scarface is a forgotten man in the hip hop game but comes back with a typical 16 bars of greatnes.
As the album draws to a close we have TRACK 16 GILMORES a funky beat with Banks really going for it here as he talks about a down town jail, and basiclly what people have done to get their. The flow sums up the whole album when again you find yourself with a big smile on yourself in a trance listening to the quality of Banks
(Bonus Track) TRACK 17 LIFE featuring Spider Loc and so the end is here and what better way to end it with a chilling Banks rap. This has one of the newest members of the G-uniot crew in it in the name of SPIDER LOC a rapper with a hell of a lot atitude and potential. Banks continues to talk about the hood and his voice goes perfecly with the tune and Spider Loc spits the third verse proving why 50 Cent decided to sign him up.
This album is a G-unit classic and if you are a hip-hop fan and a G-unit fan then you must buy this. I do feel that Lloyd Banks is one of the best rappers out there today the only thing is if you could rap about other things apart from guns money and hoes and prove his knowledge about life then he could potentially become one of the greatest of all time...but only time will tell and with ROTTEN APPLE his 2nd offical album on the shelfs now you have yo say that it is a classic album for any hip-hop lover.

Hi and welcome to ciao. I think I saw this was was your first review, and judging by the comments below, it didn't go so well at first, but, as Rich says, it often happens. But, you've obviously made a massive improvement as I thought it was great. I do think the track listing is a bit of a waste of space, but other than that I can't fault you at all. great review - have fun on ciao. Scarlett x
