THIS OLD HOUSE

Advantages: It's available to all of you
Disadvantages: To me none

...HOUSE

The Royal Opera House is situated in London's Covent Garden it first opened it's doors in December 1732. This site has been the home of three differnent theatres. the first was mainly a playhouse. The first serious music to be performed here were operas by Handel who played here from 1735 to his death in 1759. He left his organ to the theatre when he died but sadly this was destroyed by a fire in 1808. Is that not a tragedy?
...today. The theatre became the Royal Opera House in 1892.

During the first world war the Opera house became a furniture repository and during the second world war it became a dance hall, there were worries that it would stay a dance hall but the famous music publishers Boosey and Hawkes acquired the lease of the building. David Webster was appointed General Administrator and Sadler's Wells Ballet was invited to become the resident ballet ... more

Top Quality Opera for All

Advantages: Beautifully produced, top quality singing
Disadvantages: None

...amount of money possible! The Royal Opera House is almost certainly the most well known opera house in Britain and I look forward to every production I see there, knowing that it will be a real treat for the ears and the eyes! - Booking tickets - First things first, how to book tickets. You may be under the impression that tickets for the opera are hugely expensive and yes, for certain seats they are - for the big Wagnerian productions the best ...
...I have made to the Royal Opera House - the venue is beautiful and the singing and productions are among the best you will see in the UK. The productions they put on I would say are fairly conservative - the usual "classics", Mozart, Puccini, Verdi, Wagner - but the addition of the Linbury Studio has allowed them to programme more 20th Century and new works alongside the works that they know will fill the theatre - the most recent example being Damon ...

Then is the ghosts high noon

Advantages: Another red blooded success from the operatic partnership. My own personal favourite.
Disadvantages: None

the fastest of the patter songs defied belief for its clarity. In Ruddigore this opus is ?My boy, you may take it from me?. The other soloists are all competent in their roles. The orchestral sound is crisp, clear and bright. This recording is one of a series featuring all the popular operettas performed by the D?Oyly Carte Opera Company originally released by DECCA on the London label. Unfortunately this recording does not come with the spoken dialogue. My CD copy comes from 1993 and is an Analogue to Digital Remaster. I can heartily recommend it. RUDDIGORE - Gilbert & Sullivan (1962) The D?Oyly Carte Opera Company The Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London: Conducted by Isidore Godfrey OBE. Soloists: John Reed (Sir Ruthven Murgatroyd); Kenneth Sandford (Sir Despard Murgatroyd); Donald Adams (Sir Roderic ...
