Advantages: Cheap, doesn't freeze like some! Disadvantages: Not as impressive as a label bottle in the drinks cabinet
One day long, long ago, we were poodling along the alcohol aisle in Sainsburys looking for something to drink on Friday night. Discarding a bottle of 'proper' white rum that seemed stupidly expensive to our 19-year-old student selves, we settled on Sainsbury's own 'cheapo' version. These days you can pick this up for £10.95 per litre but from memory it was a wee bit cheaper then. Armed with this and a couple of bottles of coke, we went back home and settled down for the evening with a few videos. It was a good night and I've never bought a bottle of Bacardi since.
The bottle itself is quite plain, but curvy and subtly attractive enough to be mistaken for a more expensive brand at a distance. There's no big 'Economy' or 'Basics' label across the front with 'Tastes like water but will still get you drunk' or any of those cute little ...

Advantages: pleasant coconut drink, not to high % for a spirit, reasonable price Disadvantages: Non subtle flavour and smell
coke, but I have been known to drink it with lime and lemonade, orange juice or on the rocks or in a variety of cocktails. Girly evenings tend to consist of each person purchasing a bottle of spirits and making home made cocktails – a favourite is Malibu, archers, vodka and lemonade. The taste is very coconuttty and is not to everyones taste.
When I’ve been on holiday I’ve experimented with the many cheaper versions of coconut rum that are on offer which are largly copies of Malibu (maliloko, cocorum etc) which you can purchase for around 3 a 70cl bottle, but they are poor copies of the real version and often have a chemical taste. However I do try and purchase my Malibu abroad where you can often pay around £6 a bottle. When I’ve been skint I’ve also tried the only copy version that I’ve found in ...

Malibu,a product I know all too well!
A night out for me would not be complete without a drink of this lovely clear, (pricey!) rum.
I first started drinking it about three years ago, when on a trip to my local pub, they had run out of my usual Bacardi.
I was with my friend janet and after a long day at work,i wanted a nice warm spirit, rather than my second choice of Reef.
So trusty Janet was on hand to recommend me a Malibu and Coke.
Well,I liked it so much that i never looked back,I cant even stomach the taste of Bacardi now!,thats how much I love malibu.
Malibu has mainly been popular since the early eighties I am told and is Caribbean White Rum with Coconut.
Coconut is not to everybodys taste, but personally I've always liked it,so for me this drink is just right.
The liquid is clear in colour and basically the same as ...
