Soft rock personified. Coldplay have ceated a template for melodic and harmonious rifts that fall easily on the ears, it will have your foot tapping on the first listen of the album. Around the same time came Snow patrol with a similar brand of non-adventurous guitar music, however they a clearly playing second fiddle to the creators of the genre - Codplay. Frontman Chris Martin won the Young Musician of The Year award and went on to form the group whislt at University in London. The result are cleaverly structured songs with thought provoking lyrics. This is not an album that will amaze you wth face melting guitar solos and inspirational rifs to throw your fist in the air to, however it is more likely to bring a tear to your eye as you reflect upon a love lost. Good album, some catchy melodic rock numbers - Coldplay have laid the solid foundations of much greater things to come.
