Advantages: many diverse musical styles, talented vocals, and wonderful musical arrangement

We sang at a wedding, and one particular piece of music from the service, Gaelic Blessing, with the music compused by John Rutter, really stood out for me as being soulful, calming, and truly uplifting. Unlike much of the dreary music which seems to have been written by pious god-fearing types in search of a bump up the ladder to heaven, his music was just, purely and simply, inspiring. Amazing. The Best Thing Since Mozart

Advantages: Massive Work, Truly Breathtaking

...John Rutters Gloria, is THE best Gloria i have ever heard, i have had the privalage to have performed this with the National Youth Choir of Wales, and when performed live it is breathtaking. John Rutter uses massive brass parts to add huge dynamics to the piece, his use of timpani is outstanding. the piece is mainly in Bb and has 3 movements. Personaly i think there hasn't been a better composer in centuries, and i still believe that John Rutter is unfound. When his works reach the world, they will echo the corners of the globe forever. they truly are magnificent. this CD is uplifting, and a joy to listen too. take some time out of a busy schedule and listen to this CD you wont regret it. please note these are only my opinions and thoughts. i dont care that my spelling and grammar are not up to standard, and i dont wish people... Review of First Songs - Gwyneth Herbert & Will Rutter by  duskmaiden

Advantages: Gwyn's voice, varied
Disadvantages: a couple of weak tracks, the repition of Beguilling eyes

...I think I am certainly changing and growing old. Gone are my days in docs and jeans bouncing away at a rock or indie club. Now I hanker for a suave elegant intimate jazz or lounge club. I imagine myself in a sophisticated cocktail dress sipping champagne cocktails with a lovely young fellow in a smoking jacket and floppy fringe. . To recreate this fantasy I have a number of jazz and lounge albums from some of the new stars featured on Radio 2. The latest addition to this collection is entitled First Songs and is by a young British duo Gwyn and Will Gwyneth Herbert (vocals) and Will Rutter (guitar) met at Durham University and joined together to make sweet jazz music. Looks wise judging from the photo in the CD booklet they are a pretty winsome looking duo. Gwyn is pretty with blond curls and flowers in her hair perhaps in a Dido way... Read review
