Wow, this album is incredible. I am a huge Metallica fan and when I discovered that Metallica were performing with an orchestra I was very disturbed and thought that it must be a joke. I instantly believed this to be a bad idea and didnt think that they could pull this off.........but I was VERY wrong. Not only does the addition of a perfectly conducted orchestra amplify the quality of each track, it also adds a whole new feel to Metallica's tracks, which is a very welcome one-time change. Upon receiving the CD I immediately wanted to know what Master Of Puppets (*THE* one and only never to be beaten track of Metallica) sounded like and I certainly wasn't disappointed; the addition of an orchestra to this song was amazing and I honestly didn't believe it could be better than the original but with the symphony of music pumping throughout this track I was astounded and soon proven wrong.
I recommend this album to any Metallica fan, and even if you are disauded by the so-called 'classical' nature due to there being an Orchestra involved you should NOT be deterred, the album contains the instantly recognisable thrash beats that Metallica is renowned for along with the perfectly synchronised 'lighter' sounds from an extremely talented Orchestra.

Review of S&M - Metallica
Advantages: the album is a definate must for metallica fans, its kind of like a greatest hits album but the album is completly live and has a live orchestra in the background, recorded from a live concert (also available on DVD) also songs never released before Disadvantages: the only down on this is that some of the songs sound different with the orchestra in the background, but some people may prefere the version on this album than other albums (i myself do on certain songs)
