Sacred Hymns Of G.I. Gurdjieff - Keith Jarrett

Disadvantages: deeply perplexing

...I read this while I was in hopsital waiting for James to make an appearance. It was a loan from my father, I read it because it was there. I mention this because it does actually make for an important context. If you are considering reading this book, ask yourself this one vital question. Do you know who G.I. Gurdjiieff is? If the answer is no, you will find the book tricky because firstly our writer does start from the assumption that you know perfectly well who he is, and frankly he doesn't do much to enlighten his readers if they should happen not to know. Secondly, if you don't know who he is, it isn't easy to get a handle on why the book might be interesting. I suspect therefore, that if you know all about him this will be quite an interesting read. Advantages: Sting at his sultry best

...into it, and with the accompaniment of just a guitar, and mandolin, is another haunting track. ?And if I told you that I loved you, you'd maybe think there's something wrong I'm not a man of too many faces, the mask I wear is one? Sting has created yet another masterpiece. Not only can he metamorphose into so many characters, and convey so many emotions, his genius at the different moods on his songs ensure that that his albums are never boring. ?Sacred Love? has essences of jazz, club, disco, and Sting seems to realise that too many ballads are not necessarily a good thing, so the majority of the album has a more upbeat feel. As well as exploring emotions, Sting also takes a stand with his stance on the wars in the world, but of course the overriding emotion on the album is love, which Sting describes effortlessly... ...On a recent trip to Barcelona, I went on a city tour to take in some of the sights that we had missed on our last visit. A place I was really looking forward to visiting was Tibidabo Mountain, which is the highest peak in Barcelona at over 500m above sea level. Anyone who visits Barcelona will not fail to notice Tibidabo, and this is due to the imposing church of Sagrat Cor (Sacred Heart) which stands at the top of the mountain, and the impressive statue of Jesus Christ on the highest spire of the church. On travelling in and out of Barcelona, seeing this church and statue on top of the mountain is a fantastic sight. The church is the work of architect Enrique Sagnier, and building commenced in 1902 and took 60 years to build, so it is actually not that old!
