The first meal I ever made my partner was tacos (isn't that romantic - ha!) with homemade salsa. The great thing about this is that if you make a big batch of it, it can be used for a couple of days and added to other meals like chilli or spaghetti sauce to spice things up. Vary the amount of chillies used to suit your taste.
The best thing bout this recipe, is that although I have given measurements, you really can just use your best judgement and chuck in amounts that work for you. The more you make it, the more you get a feel for what suits your taste.
The other great thing about making salsa yourself is that you know what is in it. Using fresh ingredients obviously results in a healthier snack - and one that is great for kids.

with a little olive oil and salt, place in top shelve of the oven.
remove green yellow peppers as skin begins to blacken.Leave red peppers until the skin is blackened and the onion until its going golden.
Meanwhile, in a saucepan lightly fry the garlic then add the tomato's, tomato puree, chilli pepper and thicken slowly when ready allow to cool.
When ready, place peppers in a large bowl and cover with cling film for 20 mins. Then VERY CAREFULLY remove the skin *when cutting into pepper be careful as there is hot liquid inside that may spit out*. it doesn't matter about bits of skin left on as it adds a nice chargrilled taste.
Cut red peppers into good size chunks and put into a serving dish, then cut up yellow into smaller chunks and add to dish, then cut up the green pepper into the smallest chunks and add to the dish. Cut one half ...

I have been to Bar Salsa 5 times now in about 3 years. However, I must say I've never had a good night out there. Admittedly I've never been on a Monday, when a previous reviewer has said it was good. However, having been on a Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday I can tell you those days were not good.
The first thing is the price. Unless you get there early - It used to be before 2100. The cover charge was unreasonable for the venue (approximately 10GBP). This is suitable for a mainstream club playing commercial music. However, this is meant to be a salsa bar. I will come back to that point later.
