Thirty-three songs featuring merely a smattering of pseudo-self-conscious filler mean that ... more
hindsight has been good to Talking Heads' music. Fans have long since debated where the genius lay, though a couple of hours with Sand In The Vaseline yields no clear answers beyond "Probably not Jerry Harrison". The speed with which Talking Heads transformed from art-school punks to a highly credible funk noise is well illustrated here: just compare the irritating earliest material to the clipped funkadelica of "Girlfriend Is Better", and "Burning Down The House". The band's purple patch between More Songs About Buildings And Food and Remain In Light is well-represented here, especially on songs like "Heaven" and "Once In A Lifetime", where Brian Eno's masterful production lent the band's music an esoteric elegance they never quite returned to. In fairness though, 1985's Little Creatures suggested they didn't much care to. "Road To Nowhere" and "And She Was" (both featured here) represent the group's last truly great pop spree, before Byrne's all-consuming interest in world music (and his Luaka Bop label) began to dominate. --Peter Paphides

Advantages: The Heads go pop Disadvantages: Nothin'
album is bring the mixing skills of the late Alex Sadkin who worked with Grace Jones and men known as the “Rhythm Twins” better known as Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare.
With Mr Sadkin’s experience with reggae music he brought to the table a sense of pop music that paid off, for this is TalkingHeads most commercial collection they ever released in my option.
From the opening track of “Burning Down the House” that has been so badly covered in resent years as to make me cringe every time I hear it.
To he wonderful song that is “This must be the Place (naïve melody)”, the album as a whole is just so easy to listen to, not to say that it falls into the “easy-listening” category, no far from it the words are as surreal as always.
As with most of the bands output the lyrics ...
Advantages: truly ground breaking Disadvantages: nothing comes to mind
are heard to repeat the line “I’m still waiting…. I’m still waiting”.
The track “The great Curve” is best called a muscular guitar workout where the player really lets his instrument do the talking.
As the song “Once in a Lifetime” begins it’s hard for me not to see in my head the video that goes along with the track, the sight of David Byrne doing a Toni Basil choreographed dance routine is quite a difficult image to get out of my mind, in the days of vinyl that was the end of side 1.
The song “Houses in Motion” sets the tone for the rest of the tracks on the album, more sombre paced and played using minor sounding chords, such as the trumpet and horn arrangements on this track by long time Eno’s collaborator Jon Hassell. The trumpet playing of Mr Hassell ...
Advantages: smell, packaging, lasts ages, lives up to its claims, multi-use Disadvantages: nothing major
My experience of this quirky little product.
RRP £12.45. Although you can get it for between £6-10 on various beauty sites such as Lookfantastic.com or gorgeousshop.co.uk or Salonskincare.co.uk amongst others. There are often offers on this range.
I first started using Tigi products when I bought the Dumb Blonde shampo/conditioner in a local hairdressers-Highly recommended. I came across this little Gem in TK MAXX and was intrigued by its berry-like packaging.
Tigi is well known for its stylish packaging and in my opinion the Bed Head range does require a sense of humour, its packaging is quirky and bold as are its statements. In my opinion the products live up to it.
Living in this wonderful British climate, my hair seems to go from flat and frizzy in the summer to dry in the winter. My main problem is that whist I have lots ...
