Any person who appreciates a high standard of music with a fuller sound and extremely talented musicians is going to love Santana. And with this package you get his two most influential and inspirational albums. Carlos Santana changed the world of Latin American Rock with his own unique playing style which was first really appreciated in Woodstock' 69.
The album Santana - Santana--- released in the later summer of 1969 was his first Album and confirmed his unbelievable talent. With the core band in place Gregg Rolie - Keyboards/vocals, David Brown- Bass, Mike Shrieve- Drums and Jose Areas and Mark Carabello - Percussion --- Santana began his (and it's) walk along the path to history.
Santana - Abraxas--- was released in september 1970 following the bands previous sucess with their recording in 1969. This album featured some new faces such as Fleetwood Mac's Peter Green the author of Black Magic Woman. With the already immense pressure of previous sucess on them they released Abraxas which yielded two huge singles, became a number one album and took the band to the next podium of superstardom.
Lyrics
With songs such as Black Magic Woman, Oye Como va, Hope you're feeling better, Jingo, Evil Ways and Mothers Daughter you can expect to hear yourself singing along as Santana takes many classic songs and puts a whole new exhilarating vibe into them. Some fantastic Latin harmonies with a mixture of both Enlgish and Spanish language creating a much warmer fuller sound which everyone will appreciate.
Quality of Tracks
Some of the most influential and inspiring tracks feature on Abraxas alone. Samba Pa Ti has been made featured in many different films and adverts such as Marks and Spencer. Black Magic Woman has and no doubt always will be a major hit with the ladies (not to say that us guys cant love it as well !!!). Both Albums feature some beautiful Instrumental tracks that only highly skilled and experienced musicians could perform. Masterpieces such as Incident at Neshabur, Samba Pa Ti, Soul Sacrifice, Waiting etc. Absolutely rivetting tracks that you can always "bust-a-move" to.
How do these albums compare with Santana's other releases?
There is no doubt in my mind that after listening to over 20 Santana albums (yes you read correctly!) that Abraxas and Santana are the two most brilliant albums for your average person who loves mainstream music. However, when i say this i dont mean that the album is "cheese" because it is far from it, It is just that Santana has created a variety of different albums each with their own twist. For example those who are more into their heavy jazz and complexities within music, might prefer the album Oneness (which is one of my personal favourites) or perhaps Borboletta (absolutely beautiful music featuring Saxaphone solos etc). But depending on preference and opinion different Santana albums may interest you more than others. But what im trying to express is that Abraxas and Santana are "easy on the ears" for everyone, you can listen and not lose interest due to the complexity, it suits all kinds of moods and atmospheres, you can turn it up for a bit of a party, or keep the volume down low for a social chat with family and friends. this is the major adaptability of Carlos Santana's masterpieces.
Value for Money
Absolutely fantastic value for money and in a 2 pack deal. prices vary from within a couple of pounds of each other (usually £2 at the most) but, this 2 pack deal is worth every penny. for an hours wages you get a life time of pure satisfaction. Also the artwork on the cover of each album is always beautiful, Santana albums are known for often for their beautiful graphics, Abraxas and Santana being two of the most interesting.
