"Saosin" is self-titled album from, you guess it, the alternative/emo band Saosin. They have had a few previous albums, but before this CD to my knowledge I don’t remember them being as well known, but this release certainly changes that.

So the opening track "It’s far better to learn” begins with a gradual build-up, which does leave you hanging, until the drums enter the track, followed by the catchy guitar riff, which eventually lead into a perfect opening track for the bands release. Excellent vocal melodies in this track have been arranged, and adds a great effect to the song. This then leads into the second song on the album "Sleepers”. Now this song is just right being placed second on the album. The ending of the first track slowly and quietly carries on with a guitar playing which then leads into the second track which does sound amazing. This song has fast, pounding drums which fit the song perfectly, as well as the guitar arrangement which seem to be the best on the album in my opinion. Again the vocals are truly outstanding on this track which bring out the singers great range.

The third track on the album is called "It’s so simple". The song starts off face paced, but when it reaches the verse it may let some people down, but all is made up for when it reaches the up-beat chorus for the few people that may be let down by the verse. But I have to say the bridge of this song has been really well down. The line up of instruments just sounds great, and the vocals on top give it a really emotional feel.

The next two tracks, "Voices” and "Finding Home" are not as good as the three previous songs, not saying they’re terrible, just they could be a bit better. The verse of “Finding Home” has been down well, it’s just a shame that the rest of the song lets it down a bit. But you may have different views on it once you give it a listen, just my personal opinion!

The next two songs, "Follow The Feel" and "Come" really do bring back up the standard of the songs, these are both very catchy songs and are well put together. The only down point is that this is where the songs begin to sound a bit the same, not too much, but on a first listen you might have that view.

"I Never Wanted To" is a slow, relaxed track with a slow drum beat and melodic backing vocals, but the chorus follows in and the song becomes a bit more lively, which would probably been better if it was slower, but because of the building up tyo the chorus they seemed to have fitted it in nicely.

"Collapse" Is a fast paced, catchy song that comes in with all off the instruments instantly, which gives a great fell to the song. The lyrics are a bit basic, but the use of gang vocals pays up for this. The chorus is not bad, but this is probably one of the weaker tracks on the album after having listened to the rest of the song.

"You’re Not Alone” is one of my fave’s on the album, it’s a slow one, but that doesn’t mean it’s not as worthy as the up-beat songs! Starts off with a nice sounding guitar riff and slow, but great sounding drums followed by really calm vocals that give this song a great feel of emotion. Followed by the chorus this song truly is a great piece of work.

“Bury your head” and “Some Sense Of Security” are the final two tracks on the album, they may not be as well made as the previous tracks but they aren’t bad either. A better track could have been chosen for the ending track of the song as the ending of this song is a bit weak with the way it fades out slowly.

The band have overall done a good job on this album, you’ll love most of the tracks at first, but may take another few listens to get you to like the remainder of the lot. I’d have to say I prefer the groups earlier stuff but that’s down to personal opinion really.

You can pick this album up for £8.95 off play.com, or for £14.99 you get a bonus DVD with it, which I haven’t got yet so I couldn’t say whether its worth paying that little bit extra!
