This really is a great album to own P.O.D fan or not, and an essential addition for any rock music collection. And I'm sure many people wish to know what P.O.D stands for so…… The band's name is an abbreviation for "Payable On Death", taken from a banking term, which also refers to the Christian belief of the Crucifixion of Jesus which paid for humankind's sins.

Metal music is a diverse genre. However, listen to a lot of it, and you'll find that it consists mostly of large men with long, black hair, screaming about pain, anger and misery. However, P.O.D. have rubbed the black make-up off their faces, wiped the tears from their eyes, and have decided to shout about something a bit more cheerful.
Unlike most metal albums, SATELLITE is geared towards the subject of life and energy, and it works well. The tracks are lively and feel like a breath of fresh air. Most of the guitar riffs are generally solid, although some leave more to be desired (a prime example is the opening track 'Set It Off'). The vocals from lead Sammy are strong and work well. The lyrics could be better, but generally don't get in the way of the fact that this is generally a great album.

Still proudly brandishing its Christian beliefs, P.O.D. bypasses proselytizing while employing arrangements that go beyond the typical nu-metal barrage. A children's choir is featured on a chiming treatise about school violence ("Youth Of The Nation"), Rage-flavored staccato riffs pepper a testimony to faith (the title track), and Sandoval's late mother is paid tribute with a gorgeous elegy overflowing with acoustic guitar, harmonies and a groove ("Thinking About Forever"). As if stylistic maturation weren't enough, P.O.D. also pays tribute to their influences via some well-executed guest shots. Bad Brains vocalist H.R. appears on the kind of reggae/hardcore hybrid that his old band mastered ("Without Jah, Nothin'") while toaster Eek-A-Mouse impresses on the mellower-but-no-less intriguing dub-flavored workout ("Ridiculous").
