P.O.D's album is not just their album with the incredible single 'alive', it is an album, with that amazing song, but also with 14 other magnificent songs all excellent in their own way. This album was produced by Howard Benson, co - produced by P.O.D and mixed by Chris Lord-Aige, all professionals in their respective fields. And by golly are P.O.D a 'professional' rock band, what an amazing collection of hauntingly powerful and rocking music. The first song on the album is 'set it off', and it does set the album off in an energetic and enthusiastically rigorous way.
Next is the hit single alive which is one of those songs you will listen to, love, listen to 100 times until you are sick of it, then not listen to it for a few years and then you will hear it again and instantly love it again! 'Boom' is another thunderous track with expertise drumming and immaculate rock rapping.
The album's second smash hit single, "Youth of the Nation," was influenced in part by the school shootings at Santana High School, Columbine High School and Granite Hills High School, and its lyrics make you think. 'Satellite' also is popular, and is my personal favorite, and is fantastic to listen to. Their music incorporates influences primarily from alternative metal, rapcore and reggae.
Also, the concluding track of the album, "Portrait" received a number of awards including a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance in 2002. The album went on to become RIAA-certified triple platinum.
This really is a great album to own P.O.D fan or not, and an essential addition for any rock music collection. And I'm sure many people wish to know what P.O.D stands for so…… The band's name is an abbreviation for "Payable On Death", taken from a banking term, which also refers to the Christian belief of the Crucifixion of Jesus which paid for humankind's sins.
