Just putting this album on reminds me of the sweaty nights I used to enjoy watching this great band play.
I can't wait for the day Paul comes to his senses and reforms the Q-tips. On that day mysoul will be satisfied....

Advantages: Some good songs Disadvantages: Too much crap stuff
...Keyboardist PaulCarrack left Squeeze following 1981’s East Side Story album; his replacement, ex Sincero Don Snow, played on the final Squeeze album, Sweets For A Stranger in 1982, contributing some smooth Hammond organ to the single Black Coffee In Bed. Carried by Gilson Lavis’ drumming and an ingenious bassline from John Bentley, with Elvis Costello and Paul Young cooing behind Glenn Tilbrook’s vocal, the song was clearly an attempt to equal the heights of Tempted. The album confirmed this mature white soul direction, but paled overall in comparison with its predecessor’s variety, although Paul Young’s subsequent success with the same style suggested that Squeeze’s unsophisticated image had not helped fans accept the change.

Advantages: Great quality vocals and production; contrasting styles and moods. Disadvantages: None worth mentioning

‘Tea and Sympathy’ is a bit of low point in the album for me I must confess. I couldn’t handle the string quartet interrupting the proceedings just when you least expect, bit like an unwelcome guest.
‘Below My Radar’ is an interesting change of mood yet again. I particularly like the PaulCarrack (of Ace (‘How Long?’) fame and Mike and the Mechanics – pleased to get that in) - style Hammond organ on this track, used with wonderful effect to add complexity to the quiet, now well balanced orchestral mood. Another favourite as you can tell. This would send the cats and dogs to sleep ! Quality.
The album ends with the simple quiet gospel piano-voice ‘Remember Me’ but beware she has a surprise sting in the tail for you if you let it run a little while beyond that...
