I was so thrilled to hear that Karl was doing this album.

I have Been a big fan of Nile since they first come onto the international scene and was instantly a fan due to their cutting edge sound, brutal technicality and originality, 'I could go on about Nile, but I am not here to write about them, except to say that I had often loved the extended pieces with just that authentic egyptian sound from the various instruments Karl uses on their albums including the epic chanting and sounds that make the masses want to rise and conquer!

He has now taken those pieces, which are awesome without the blast beats, growling vocals and seriously fast distorted guitars which....oops.. there I go again....... And he has now done a whole album of this.

It is exactly what I expected it to be and was not dissapointed. The title says it all 'Saurian meditation', it is what you expect for a meditation album. It is repetitive, simple slow, chilled rythms, tones and melodies, and of course, the focus is with an authentic egyptian theme/sound.

I will also say that, most meditation albums are designed just for...well... meditating, and if you were a non-metal person or some yoga guru, you could totally clear your mind and get caught up in letting this epic sound take you away to that place where you recharge your shakra's, and I find, now that I have listened to it several times, I am able to shut off and just get totally caught up in the vibe.

But when I first started listening (being a fan of Nile), I was on edge, listening intently for little suttle things Karl does, his mastery personified! And you are able to find this with in the constant soothing rythms and every now and then you get slight hints of distorted guitars like he has gone off on a quick Nile trip, but once you get past this, you will go on to enjoy the album so much more.

I suppose I am saying, don't get caught up on Nile, this is not a Nile album, this is a side project where Karl gets to not only indulge his love for everything egyptian, but a chance for his fans (and hopefully non-metal folk) to broaden their minds to other things and maybe even use it for a tool to find some Zen!

I say this is a must have for any Nile fan but also to any open minded individual espescially if you love egyptians sounds.
