‘Shining Through’, the theme song of the movie is given a hip yet classic treatment by rap star Fredro Starr and the soulful Jill Scott. This captures the emotion and power of love through very conversational lyrics.

Hip Hop breakers and poppers,’ You Can Do It’ would get you into the party mood in no time. You can try out some of the moves to the movie to this.
‘Bonafide’ and ‘You Make Me Sick’ are more pop oriented, good for improvised dancing. ‘You Know What’s Up’ is a mixture of soulful hip hop and a very catchy but subtle groove.
For head nodding music, ’You’ , ‘Get It on Tonight’ and ‘My Window’ are great tracks. Good accompaniments and strong vocal performances especially the harmonies.
For the older generation, K-CI and Jojo’s Crazy does the trick every time. Great to sing along to or even slow dance to.
Overall this is a good collection; the only negative is that some of the lyrics are overly suggestive like ‘You Can Do It’.
Advantages: a wide range of r & b styles and some classic tunes Disadvantages: ballads - yuck!
A GREAT SOUNDTRACK
I love the film "Save the LastDance" which stars Julia Stiles and Sean Patrick Thomas as star crossed lovers trying to have a multi-cultural relationship much to the disgust of their peers. Their relationship begins through a mutual love of dance, although their ideas of what constitutes good dancing are entirely different. The album is perfect for a workout as most of the tracks are high energy with the slower ones to allow you to warm up or down.
Each track has it's own special place in the film and when you listen to the album you remember what happened on each part of the film.
The best time to play this album is during a girls night in or just before a girls night out, and the album is a good end to watching the film as it means that you can savour every memory of Derek's dancing.
