Album Notes: The Seldom Scene: Dudley Connell (vocals, guitar); Fred Travers (vocals, dobro); Lou Reid (vocals, mandolin); Ben Eldridge (guitar, banjo); Ronnie Simpkins (bass).
Advantages: It's limited edition, so one day I may be able to sell it and make some money Disadvantages: Everything else about it
...I bought this album not to long after buying Moseley Shoals, at that point Moseley Shoals was all I had heard by Ocean Colour Scene so I was still under the impression that they were a good band. As it was a limited edtion CD I decided to take a chance on it and buy it. Unfortunatly, like most of Ocean Colour Scene's material, B-Sides, Sea Sides and Free Rides is a collection of turgid, bland ballads. There are a few tracks that deviate from the standard Ocean Colour Scene way of doing things, but the chances are you will have drifted off to sleep before you get there....

Advantages: all the great OCS tracks on one album, value for money, good live versions Disadvantages: Not original
...This really is the best of Ocean Colour Scene, featuring not only their singles, but their best B-sides (Huckleberry Grove and Robin Hood) and a great album track (Get Blown Away from 'Marchin' Already). The compilation shows off their range of tempos and syles from the dancy 'Riverboat Song' to the rocking 'Hundred Mile High City' to mellow ballads like 'Robin Hood' and pretty much every stop in between. This makes it an excellant introduction to Ocean Colour Scene(although 'Anthology' will get you more tracks for your money), and an outstanding album in it's own right - I've listened to it nearly 100 times since I bought it in August of this year, and I can see myself listening to it 100 more times without getting bored. Worth buying if you are a fan of rock (not metal), or like good guitar-driven music, and as a band, Ocean Colour...

Advantages: Guitar solos, strong bass lines, track 13 is really different Disadvantages: Takes a few listens to like, much more calm
...Ocean colour scene are one of the best band in the world and one of the most musically tallented traditional band. This album is a masterpiece, nobody can lose the chance to own this ablum. The album offers a few suprised (track 13) and avoids any embarassments - anyone who loved Moseley Shoals will love this album.
The album opens with two classic OCS tracks which both have , big, loud guitars and are fast paces anthems . (Everything comes at the right time and free my name). The album contains three covers, firstly my personal favorate, George Harrision "Wah Wah", "Start of the day" by the real people and "My time" by Bob Andy. At first glance OCS look as if they are short of material - the rest of the album reenforces the fact that OCS still have the ability to create great rock.
The best and most distinctive track on the album...
