Advantages: Completely uniqu. Uses modern day hiphop and mixes it beautifully with Cornell's soulful tones. Disadvantages: This is just the first of many 'music for the masses' albums that Cornell is likely to partake in

Cornell, the iconic frontman of Temple of a Dog, Soundgarden, and more recently Audioslave has once again made a case for his place in the 21st century limelight with the risky yet compelling 'Scream' Album.
When first listening to the album my initial concern was that as everyone had speculated, Cornell had 'sold out' with typical Timbaland beats and on a number of tracks, the addition of certain electro effects. However the album works beautifully. Tracks such as 'Ground Zero' use the typical hip hop creativity of Timbaland and combine this with the unique and raspy jazz voice that has become Cornell's trademark to create a truly unique song.
By far my favorite track on the album was 'far away'. A sensational Cornell modern day classic echoing the poetic genius of his first solo album of 'Euphoria Morning', this is a must for any fan.
All in all, 'Scream' takes the listening on a journey through a unique transition of hiphop beats mixed with light, jazzy rock that has become the Cornell way.
The only criticism I may have is that Cornell is clearly trying to appeal to the masses but why not. The man has performed on all levels of rock, achieving megalithic status but never on the mainstream. So tune in, pick up your headphones and listen to the first of Cornell's music for the masses. Just don't get angry when you hear 11 year olds walking down the street singing 'that bitch aint a part of me', because this is still a real gleam of an album.
Advantages: soundgarden x RATM= genius Disadvantages: dones have Zach de la Rocha left wing politics
Audioslave teams up the man with the iron vocal chords with the established proto-rap-metal band. The result is a strange mix.
Audioslave include ex-Soundgarden frontman ChrisCornell and Rage Against The Machine's Tim Commerford , Tom Morello , and Brad Wilk. 'Audioslave' blend elements of both previousbands - Cornell's keening vocals, Morello's avant array of guitar sounds - offering up an invigorating new brand of hard rock.
Even before listening to this debut, Audioslave seems like a good idea. The melding makes sense, combining two generations
of heavy rock practitioners who neither managed to scale the heighest heights of artistic achievement, but both satisfied fans of loud guitars and screaming vocalists. This disc is about proving that the new supergroup has enough character and chemistry to surpass the best of both bands ...

Album Notes
Most famous as the former frontman of multi-platinum rock acts Soundgarden and Audioslave, Chris Cornell follows his Bond theme 'You Know My Name' with this third solo album. His choice of hip-hop mogul Timbaland as producer has been met with bafflement and derision in the rock community, but Timbaland's rock credentials are already established by his work with One Republic. The results on this album are similar, with Cornell's soulful voice sitting astride slick pop-rock combined with hip-hop influences.
