When the most talked about thing about a serious artist is her weight loss, along with the loss of her previous prized asset(s), you know that there’s a certain problem and the former Ginger Spice has got it in spades.
She may have shed enough pounds to build a welterweight boxer, but with the love handles seems to have gone her judgement, her taste and her brain power. She now seems to be painfully, teenage model thin with sticky out ribs and a very odd looking face and she’s almost gone too far….
STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP….
Start again you male chauvinist pig, this is about her music not her body…
Except when you start talking about the music, you get pretty thin fare indeed. In fact, if it weren’t for image, changing shape and celebrity boyfriends then Ms Halliwell would be Miss Dullsville 2001, because she makes pretty dull, lifeless, characterless, shallow music, much like her blonde contemporary Emma Bunton, with little to recommend it.
She made one quite listenable and indeed strong debut single in ‘Look At Me’, but ever since then she’s gone into a quite sub-Madonna stylee with little original to sing or say. ‘It’s Raining Men’, the Weather Girls cover, is pretty standard stuff and describes the current Muse to perfection. Shallow with little depth or interest. She could be any one of a thousand pretty faces with little talent swinging their buttocks to the chiding of music company presidents.
Her decision around three or four years ago to split the Spices was quite courageous and she seemed to be ready to do something new, much as Our Robbie did when he gave Take That the boot (or vice versa) but on current form, she’d have probably been better advised to hide her dim little glimmer under the bushel of a five piece so that it wasn’t as badly spotlighted as it is now she’s struck out one her own.
The front cover of this album has La Skinnibody in perilously short skirt with what’s meant to be a knowing look on her face, ‘cept it’s EMI that have got the knowing looks as they await the big bucks falling into their collective fat laps.

But then, it fits Ms Halliwell’s creation pretty ideally, because hers is a pretty meaningless career these days.

Geri Halliwell’s anticipated second album, the follow-up to the hit album “Schizophonic” was the petrol fuelled “Scream If You Wanna Go Faster” Like the previous album which spawned three consecutive number one singles, this album seems to be doing like wise. The first release, “It’s Raining Men” a cover of the weather girls track that is on the Bridget Jones Diary soundtrack, ... ...name sake of the album, seems to be heading the same way.
Ø The Songs

The Second single release “Scream If You Wanna Go Faster” is what opens this album and what a start it is! The first thing that can be heard is the chugging and then roaring of a motor engine like a motor bike and then the song begins along with guitars and loads more. This is a highly charged rock/pop type track, which is a great opener for this album.

...on to release this album Scream If You Wanna Go Faster with her first single It's Raining Men from it. This was a cover, obviously but she then released Scream If You Wanna Go Faster and after this began to release many more singles. Advantages: Geri herself, some excellent tracks, a nice mixture of styles Disadvantages: a couple of weaker tracks - but nothing too bad, too many ribs!!

SCREAM IF YOU WANNA GO FASTER
This is fast, catchy and very easy to get into. For a while, I was convinced there was a line where she sings “Gimme some, gimme some Vaseline” but rather disappointingly, it’s ‘gasoline’, oh well. According to the little red logos in the album booklet, this song is ‘for the mind’ and ‘to make you move’. I wouldn’t say it was particularly ... ...find yourself wiggling along to, then singing later on.

Hmmm, sickly-sweet title. This reminds me of last year’s Bag It Up – lyrics full of sound-bites and Americanisms (Perhaps she’s spending too much time there?) but very little beyond superficial pop. The title track (nah, you don’t say!) and it’s not hard to see why. Beginning with a revving runaway car, it’s straight into a 60s tinged Austin Powers meets the Monkees meets rock, monster of a tune. Yeah Baby!
Shake Your Beauty Cutie
How thoughtful. Geri’s given us her very own workout number. “Hello Daddy baby, Hello sexy mummas,” she purrs before asking in her normal dulcet tones, “Is ... ...get out of your bed and into your body.” How could anyone resist? Naff, but addictive.

In a recent interview on ‘That Gay Show’, Geri revealed that George Michael has raved about this track. It’s not hard to understand why: it’s a composing-by-numbers George slushy number if ever there was one! Still mighty fine though.

You're probably wondering why the title of my opinion seems a little bit irrelevant to the topic...well...in fact it is the song title of track number 4. on the album. What I like about this album is that each song is individual and shows off her talent at the best. Her last album entitled 'Schizophonic' similarly satisfied me, but this one is great...if not better. 'Scream if you wanna go faster' is one of my favourite albums in my collection at ... ...of music, that you can never get bored, and it suits almost any mood that your in, whether it be fun, on the go and exciting...all the way through to upset, sad and angry. She allows no limitations on her voice and her hopelessly catchy tunes are sure to stick in your head. Since splitting with the Spice Girl's, her success has soared far more than any of the other four girls...she is the only one at present with 2 top of the chart albums along with ...
