So one day I’m on Myspace chatting to a few friends. It was about August time in 2006. When I noticed some guy had added me on myspace. I sent him an email simply just saying Hi and asking how he was and he replied. He was about a year younger than I am, had totally different music taste and was from Germany. However still we got chatting and arguing over mostly music.

We argued over such things as Justin Timberlake (with him saying he liked the music and myself not liking It.) and other sort of arguments over music from him liking pop/R&B and myself like metal/rock music. However it was fun arguing.
One day we started arguing over some random boring R&B artist with Him saying “well at least they are better than bands like tokio hotel” I replied “Umm sorry but I have no idea who Tokio Hotel are. Ummm who are they?” He told me they were some (let me think of his exact words) lame, wannbe, boring, childish band with no sense of style and terrible music. And this is how it all started.

I decided to check the so called “lame band” and see if they really were as bad as he had made out. They were a pop-rock band from Germany.
There was Bill the lead singer, Tom the guitarist, George on the bass and Gustav on drums. There weren’t very old either, in the ages of 16-18. They had become very big in Germany, had a few no. 1’s and had won a lot of awards

THE BAND MEMBERS
Bill had this wicked sense of style. His hair was black and long and he wore make up. He was very skinny (rumour had it that he was anorexic and bulimic) and his style was normally a black t-shirt and a pair of jeans. My first reaction to him was “Is he a girl?” but nope he wasn’t, he was a guy and a very hot one as well (no I do not like girls I just like guys that look a little feminine)

Tom was his twin brother. He had dread locks, wore no make up and usually wore baggy cloths. However I thought he was very hot as well. And though other 2 usually dressed normally however George (bassist) had long hair and was very manly looking (also very hot ;) hehe) and Gustav was the normal one out of the group.

THE MUSIC.
So now I had seen the members and had see there history it was now time to check out there album. There songs were in German however recently they have recorded a few of there songs from the album “Schrei” (meaning scream) into English. (As the review goes on I will tell which songs have been recorded in English)
I went onto you tube and type in “Tokio Hotel” I found a song with the same title as there album “Schrei” I listened to it and after that I decided to listen to the rest of the album.

Here are my results:

The first song on the album is schrei the length of the song 3mins and 16secs:
Ok so it’s a typical emo song. About no one understanding you. With the chorus of the song saying “Schrei” or in English “scream” which they have bought out this song in English which you can find on you tube(I think though it’s on there illegally so shhhhhhh  ) bill’s voice is very angry and fed up so it does relate to the song. I do enjoy this song though. I must say it’s great. I would defiantly recommend it. There is also a video that has been bought out for the song and it’s a single as well.

The second song on the album is: Durch Den Monsun. The length is 3:56 seconds.
Ok the second song is also in English translating back as : through the monsoon (I think I’ve spelt that right) There is also a video to this song It’s bill looking so young in it as well. This was their very first single. Bill has short hair in the video with an emo fringe haha. The video is very dull (in a good way) and it’s all about when feeling low, think about that special person to make you feel better hence the lyrics (in English): “running through the monsoon, beyond the world to the end of time where the rain can’t hurt. Fighting the storm into the blue and when I lose myself I think of you.” Its so awwwwwwww (sorry not a good way to describe the song but in my own opinion that is the only way I can describe It if you have a better way to describe it then me.) the music isn’t as heavy and some of their other songs however the music isn’t soft either. As goldilocks would say “It’s just right”.

Their 3rd song is Leb' Die Sekunde running at 3:45 mins:
Ok so I would love to tell you what this song is about but unfortunately there is no English version and I am unable to find the translation however I will tell you a little information about it. The music is very quick, very upbeat and a tad bit load. However through the chorus it gets a little slower and softer (not much softer though) Bills voice is lovely in it. The beat is amazing in this song and it’s a very interesting song.

4th song rette mich/rescue me :’( running time at 3:42mins:
awwwwwwwwwww makes me cry it’s so sad . This was the first song I learnt to play on the guitar. It’s so good but so I want to hug him to take all his pain away ; ) hehe(I wish I could) but really this song is both in English and German and the very first time I heard this song I cried and I heard this song the very first time in German and I don’t know German so the voice and the music speaks for it’s self. When I heard it in English and understood the song I cried even more. It’s all about heartbreak and wanting to get the love back but they won’t come back. This is my favourite song from this album. The video is great and once again bill looks so hot. It starts of with the guitar though the intro, verse 1 and the chorus and the bass can just about be heard .If you listen to this song I recommend tissues…lots of them.

5th song Freunde Bleiben running time 3.42 mins:
This is a very average song I do not know the translation of this song in English so I am unaware of what it’s all about however I do enjoy the music in it but it’s not one of there best. Its starts of just with the guitar then bill singing and later on through the song the drums and bass come in. it’s an ok song but for their standard it’s not good.

6th song of the album is Ich Bin Nich' Ich (which I think means I am not me) which runs for 3:47 mins:
This song is great. The beginning is great and it’s even better when the drums come in. in the verses the drums, bass and guitar are playing however the drums are more heard than the rest of the interments. To me this is one of there better songs. I enjoy it a lot. I love the way how it get’s softer during the verse and goes more upbeat in the chorus. Another thing I like about the song is in some parts there is an echo of bill’s voice. It’s cool. The only problem is it’s not in English :(

The 7th song is Wenn Nichts Mehr Geht (If nothing more goes) running time 3:52 :
I can’t decide weather I like this song or not. I do not understand it and yet I listen to it when I am in a certain kind of mood (I don’t think that makes any sense) the music and bill’s voice is rather sad like he has almost given up on life but something has triggers and he might try. (and that is not what the song is about that’s just what I think it sounds like) I must say though the chorus is very catchy it’s a very tearfully kind of chorus.

The 8th song Lass Urns Hier Raus running time 3:05mins :
On this song his voice sounds so young and cute (probably because he recorded this when his voice hadn’t broken) the song is upbeat until the 3rd verse. But I don’t really enjoy it that much it’s a very bad tokio hotel song. However the guitaring is good in it.

The 9th song Gegen Meinen Willen(against my will) running time 3:35mins:
This is also one of my favourite songs By Tokio Hotel from this album It’s very well laid out. It’s a little soft during the verses and then through the chorus it’s a little bit more upbeat and heavier. I enjoy it. I do not know the who translation In English. And in my opinion to love a song and not know what the song is about Is very good. Bills voice is very strong and upsetting in this song (in a good way) To be honest I love every bit of the song.

The 10th song Jung Und Nicht Mehr Jugendfrei. Running time 3.21mins:
The intro of the song goes into the guitar with the follow up of the 1st verse going into the guitar and drums the bass is playing but it’s not easy to hear. The song carries on basically like this. It’s an interesting song however not one of there best.

The 11th song der letzte tag (the last day) running time 3:o3mins:
This song is not in English however I do know the translation. There is also a video to it which was preformed live on a roof top which was rather interesting seen as though the song is about being on a roof top with a person asking his partner that if there relationship is going to end then please don’t say it yes. I love the start with the drums sticks clapping together 4 times. And then the music playing following into bills lovely little voice.

And finally the last song from the album is Unendlichkeit which runs for only 2.27mins: strangely enough I can’t help but think that the start of this song sounds like It’s in the jungle haha I have no idea why. It’s not like any other of tokio hotel songs and the words seem to repeat them self a lot. I love the start of the song but after a minute of the song it gets really being and dull and almost so it’s just repeating it’s self over and over again. It’s a shame seen as though it’s the last song on the album.

CONCLUTION

So was the person of myspace right or wrong about this band??? I must say 75% wrong and 25% right. There are a few bad songs on the album but there are also some amazing songs. I hate to admit it but I really like this band. I am more into metal music and this is very pop-rock but still It’s very good and these guys are really talented I think. I would recommend this album to people the album reached no 1 in Germany and in Austria and was in the top 12 in 5 other countries. This CD is very good for it’s money costing about £6-£13.

I would like to say that before people say that this is off topic because It says that the album is called scream I would like to tell you that it is also called scrhei and it is translated back into English to scream.

If any one wants me to write a review on the 2nd album by tokio hotel I would be happy to as it has my favourite song by Tokio Hotel on it and because I love writing about music. just message me or sent me a comment and i will.
