Advantages: Great illustrations. Teaches about the life cycle of a seed. Disadvantages: Not for pre-school children as longer than Carle's usual stories.
...I use this book with Reception and Year 1 children to teach them about the life cycle of a seed and the seasons and weather conditions associated with each season.
~ The story ~
It is all set in the present tense (which is the only element of this that I'm not overly keen on)
The story begins in:
Autumn ~ when the strong wind blows flower seeds and carries them in all different directions.
Amongst all of the seeds there is one tiny seed and the question is poised as to whether it will be able to keep up with the others.
It tells of all the hazards faced by seeds, e.g. landing on an icy mountain, falling in to the ocean, landing in the desert where it never rains, being eaten by a bird!
But thanks to it's 'tiny-ness' the bird doesn't see the tiny seed and it settles down in to the earth........

Advantages: SOFT, FULL OF SEEDS AND FLAVOUR, VERY MOREISH. Disadvantages: YOU REALLY WILL WANT ANOTHER SLICE....AND ANOTHER...!
...Toseed or not toseed, that is the question!

If I were to be stopped on the street by a man with a microphone and a very large camera, and asked what my favourite bread was, I would have to say, without a shadow of a doubt, Warburtons Seeded Batch. There is no bread finer, in my humble opinion!
So what is it? Well it is a loaf of great distinction in our house, the creme de la creme of bakery produce. Made outwith a tin, and therefore very soft and doughy at the sides, it is full to bursting with all the great and good of seediness! Sesame seeds, poppy seeds, sunflower and linseed, even millet for the singing canaries amongst us! Sliced thick, it is so nourishing and flavoursome, soft, yet with the real bite and crunch of the seeds giving it a somewhat nutty texture...

Advantages: Good germination rate. Disadvantages: Slightly more expesive than some other,s.
...Due to the economic downturn, we decided to try and grow our own this season.
searching through the seed suppliers at the garden centre, We found that Suttons had a really good range of product,s.
They are , in some cases, a little bit more expensive than others, but the amount of seeds per pack was impressive.
Prices range from, 99p for the more common seeds, like radish, lettuce and spring onion. Up to £1. 79 for runner beans, broad beans or garden peas.
In March i began sowing and i have been very impressed with the amount of seedlings that have grown.
As i write, there are lettuce big enough to pull, also radishes, which taste so much better than any you can buy from the supermarket.
The runner beans were grown in pots and transplanted yesterday, with canes to grow up. Considering the price of them when they appear...
