Sarah's Mixed Up
Review of Remixed - Sarah McLachlan by
chezza1310
Advantages: All the Sarah Mclachlan greats remixed
Disadvantages: There should be more songs remixed too
...in search of Sunrise Remix) 11:33
(This is the classic Delerium dance track)
6. Black (William Orbit Mix) 7:00
7. Possession (Rabbit in the Moon Mix) 5:41
8. Hold On (BT Mix) 7:45
9. Plenty (Fade Mix) 10:19
Mixed and remixed by some great, popular and well known DJs the CD is filled with fantastic music. Each track is still individual to Sarah - clear which track it is but mixed in fantastic ways to make them extra special and a pleasure to listen to.
Silence (from Deleriums album Karma) is excellent and the true dance classic.
Any true Sarah fan should have a copy of Remixed in their CD collection....

How to Measure an Album?
Review of How To Measure A Planet? - Gathering, The by
a-true-ben
Advantages: Releaxing, different (trip-rock?!) and if not classic certainly a very pleasant listen
Disadvantages: Lack of standout songs, some childish lyrics, perhaps too indulgent in places
...for the band and what I normally listen to as well; but I think it has enough appeal to sell moderately well for such a not particularly commercial release.
Forced to draw comparisons, I'd probably opt for Delerium (it is similar in mood and style, though not generally as organic as their 'Karma' breakthrough - more like the older stuff with vocals perhaps) or even (for a more recognisable parallel) the more gothic and less nu-metal moments on Evanescence's album (e.g. 'Haunted', 'My Last Breath', 'Hello' rather than the singles). Add to that comparisons (obvious and less so) to everyone from Pink Floyd, to Morcheeba, to Miocene's 'Cellular Memory' EP and you're probably too confused to be any the wiser…
Listening to the album again, whilst writing this, reminds me how good it is though. Ok, so lyrics don't really stick in my head...
