Advantages: A good read, interesting locations Disadvantages: Rat seems to have lost some of his shine
(UK Paperback, book first published (UK) 2001, 272 pages)
Note for all reviews: If the plot outline seems light this is intentional as I hate reading reviews that say "and the ending where ?" :-)
When Imperetrix Von Kaiser-Czarski (or "Chaise" to his friends, particularly the ones who want to email him :-) ) the universes richest person and the oldest at some 40,000 yrs (yikes!) asks Jim to help him find out who is robbing his banks the rat's immediate reaction is ? nope! A short negotiation later resulting in a fee of 4,000,000 credits a day (almost as much as a plumber) and Jim is on the case.
After intensive research the common theme of all the robberies is found to be that a circus was in town - obvious when you think about it. Unfortunately it wasn't the same circus but they all did have the same act with them ...
Advantages: Great for fans of the TV show Disadvantages: None
The clown is a book which has been written based on the children's television show Balamory.
The cover of the book is green and has a circle at the bottom with a picture of a clownin and above this is a picture showing the hoses along the sea front and the title in coloured bubble lettering. The back cover of the book is also green and has a square which has colourful balloons at the top and then a paragraph telling us about the book. This is the paperback edition of the book I am reviewing.
The story starts with Miss Hoolie introducing herself and telling us that today is a work day and everyone is busy going to work and school. She then goes to her cupboard where she finds a makeup box. She says that this is just what Giggles the clown needs and he is coming to the nursery today. She tells us that Josie will be where soon ...
Advantages: Fun item! Disadvantages: It sprays water - enough said!
This is a small set from playmobil that goes with the new (2008) Playmobil Circus range, and it would go well with the circus tent (set 4230) or as a stand alone item.
The clown is a detailed little figure for which we paid £3.95 at John Lewis. He has moveable limbs and hands like all playmobil figures and his little blue hat, complete with an umbrella is removable as are his fantastic clown shoes. In the small box you get the clown and the flower.
The real fun from this set comes from the flower he is holding - it has a little plastic reservoir hidden at the back which can be filled by water quite easily (my 5 year old can manage it). When you squeeze the back of the flower water comes out. As you can imagine this is great fun!
Playmobil have designed this well as it does appeal to children, but you can't put so much water ...
