...I've never been a good cook but after my friend let me have a go on her Cooking Mama game I had to buy it for myself! Basically, you have to make a dish and at the end you get a grade from cooking mama, depending on how well you make the dish. The grades are Gold, Silver & Bronze with Gold being the best, Bronze the Worst.
Cooking Mama is similar to games such as Wario Ware because of the fact you will be given a short amount of time to complete simple actions which can be anything in Cooking Mama such as slicing, mixing, pressing food , grating & even pouring! All these actions are done with the Stylus by swiping, tapping, or scribbling on the DS screen. When finishing the action, if you finish it perfectly, Cooking Mama will tell you, you are Very Good with a small gold badge underneath it , If you did okay she'll tell you, you did...

Advantages: very user friendly and informative Disadvantages: repetitive
...Cooking Mama on the Nintendo DS.
Now being a profession Chef i was worried to start with about what this game would actually teach about cooking, as with many other games i have played myself which are centered around cooking they have no actuall basis on cooking, but this game was different i found it a joy to play with my younger sister and found she was intrested in cooking many of the different dish's which were featured in the actual game.
it is very user friendly which allows users of all ages to play easily.
the game is slightly repetitive which causes users to lose intrest in certian aspects of the game.
but overall i found this game a joy to play and a very good buy....

Advantages: Good graphics, Fun mini games. Disadvantages: Not a lot to do when main game is completed.
...A really enjoyable game. But I did find that once i'd completed all the recipes and got them all to gold level there wasn't a lot left to do! The main game is really fun, with things such as chopping, cracking eggs and boiling. Some of the recipes are quite challenging and it took me atleast 20 attempts to get one of them to a gold level, i'm rubbish at measuring out quantities!!
The mini games are good fun too, they test your skills with individual things such as chopping, grating and tenderising. They can get quite tricky though, I still haven't managed to complete some of them!!!
You don't even have to be good at cooking to enjoy cooking mama, because it's just skill in the end!
I can't wait to play cooking mama 2!...
