Kate Bush is a goddess of music and this album sees her in a sexy, sultry mood. The title track is a delicious musical interpretation of how James Joyce writes his works. Beauty and brains, a rare combination.
The journey through the music on here takes a few typical twists and turns, some deep and heartfelt, some rather startling. The latter, for example, you can hear in "Heads We're Dancing" which tells the tale of a woman who unwittingly dances with Hitler.
Tracks that stand out for me on this album are "The Sensual World", "Love And Anger", "The Fog", "Between A Man And A Woman" and "This Woman's work". They show the musicianship that Kate Bush has learned over the years, and her skill at creating melodies that don't necessarily conform to what people consider as normal, yet they work beautifully, are represented here.
For all lovers of songs that aren't afraid to be a little leftfield, Kate is your artist and albums like this will be a joy. I have the majority of her work and consider this to be the most mature to date, and it's reliably professional in production.
Not necessarily for first time listeners to Kate Bush's style, but hugely enjoyable for those that are. Well worth the journey to the shops.
