Advantages: a phoenix from the flames of Deep Purple Disadvantages: none
When RitchieBlackmore quit Deep Purple in 1974 breaths were held to see what he would do next, were there greater things ahead for this highly respected guitar maestro or had he run his course? In his final days with Deep Purple their support band had been American country blues rockers Elf and it was with this band that Blackmore now turned to find the musicians that he needed to play his songs. Out of this merger came the album RitchieBlackmores Rainbow, not only a great collection of songs in its own right, but a taste of things to come, the critics fell silent and rock fans breathed a sigh of relief, everything was going to be all right in the world after all. Although an entirely new vehicle for Blackmores ideas, Rainbow still had a lot his old band about them, this was to be expected as Deep Purple was a guitar led band ...
Advantages: Tense, Atmospheric Thriller Disadvantages: Hardly upbeat! (Is a positive for some!)
Now i'll turn my hand to a little video nasty! Hardly but a little more of a creepy one than I usually review.
So what's it all about?

'Session 9' is a film made in 2001 and is directed by Brad Anderson (The machinist).
The film is a psychological thriller set around Danvers State Mental Hopsital and is focussed on a team of asbestos removal specialists who are somewhat obstructed in the path of completing their work by a few odd occurances in the old Hospital.

Advantages: Superb incorporation of classical scales into Rock, great riffs and leads. Disadvantages: Rainbow's last album
RitchieBlackmore, (creator of one of the most famous rock riffs - Smoke on the Water) after shuttling between Deep Purple (1965 - 1974, 1984 - 1994) and Rainbow (1975-1984,1994-1997) came up with this brilliant Album during his second stint with Rainbow, featuring vocalist Doogie White of Scottish Origin.
Blackmore uses a scalloped fretboard with wood shaved of b/w frets meaning that he plays with a light touch, resulting in a furious pace. This is immediately evident throughout the album, right from the Album opener Wolf to the Moon which starts of with a signature fast paced Blackmore Riff. Doogie White, proves that his recruitment by Blackmore into the band is no stroke of luck.
The entire album has ritchieblackmore's classical influence portrayed in great style with some neat riffs.
With the album of to a great start ...
