Sessions - Sly & The Family Stone

Advantages: Its just totally original and cool
Disadvantages: None- unless you don't like soul music then that would be a disadvantage

...Joss Stone’s got it all really, for aside from being rather gorgeous she’s got a unique voice that’s created an album in the soul sessions that’s really rather good. This is an album with a completely different sound to the bubblegum pop that the music market perpetually produces and is instantly recognisable as hers simply because of the originality of her voice. The first single released "Fell in love with a boy" is quite simply just plain cool. So cool in fact that the White Stripes changed their original version of "Fell in love with a girl" to fit in line with Stone’s tempo and phrasing. The followup "Super Duper Love" is a real feel good summer song, which is most pleasant on the ear and will undoubtedly bring a smile to your face. ...I first heard of joss stone a year ago. I have to say, I was listening to radio 2, and they had a show on called soul sessions presented by Jill Scott. Then all of a sudden I heard this voice, amazing, and so funky. I instantly fell in love with the voice. A few days later, on Radio1, in the live lounge, there was no other then Joss Stone. She sang a few songs, that were off the album. This was before the album was launched. I only have a few problems with this album. Alot of the tunes are similar. This is due to the fact that all the musicians are the same and they are all re-workings of classic soul tunes. They have had some brilliant things done to them, but unfortunately, due to being so in-demand, all of her tunes have been comercialised and played to death on the radio. Advantages: a great new talented jazzy voice
Disadvantages: a dissapointing album

...When i heard the first two released singles i loved them to bits! This album is a good one, it has a few fantastic tracks e.g - fell in love with a boy, superduper love, the chokin kind , all the kings horses and some kind of wonderfull are all very catchy, funky and show off this talented young voice but as for the rest of the album i nearly fell asleep with boredum, if you like slow , boring songs with hardly any tune the other tracks are ok, but i think this album is a let down after al the good press about Joss stone.Allthough, this is a good album mostly, and has a very original feel to it and a great cd cover.Yes she is talented and some of the tracks are great, but the rest is a total let down ....
