Album Reviews: Entertainment Weekly (4/27/01, pp.114-5) - \"...McGraw's career-defining work....With rumbling electric guitars and a vocal delivery that makes it feel like an early-90s Springsteen outtake....a solid, upright country act...\" - Rating: B
Advantages: A Great Selection Of Songs Disadvantages: One Weaker Song (Not much of a disadvantage to be fair)
...takes off from where the first one finished. FOR A LITTLE WHILE also has a really good beat. In my view this is a real mould breaker, as the song is about the end of a relationship, however all the songs i've heard are sad when this happens. However TimMcGraw disagrees and who am i to argue, after all it got all the way up to number 2 on the country chart
IT'S YOUR LOVE is up next on the album and is a great country ballard. It's a duet with done with his also imensly talented wife Faith Hill, it is all so considered to be his best ever song having won the awards of being Country song of the year and Billboard Magazine's Single of the Year in 1997, how the americans remember all this is unbelievable.
I was a bit dissapointed with AIN'T THAT THE WAY IT ALWAYS ENDS when i first heard it. However i now believe I was over hasty, sure...

Advantages: Great introduction to Country star Disadvantages: If you prefer his later stuff, be warned: the best tunes on this are at the 'novelty' end of his output
...'I like her, I love her, I want some more of her'
Read any interview with TimMcGraw and you'll find that when he is quizzed on his ambitions as a country artist, he will confess a love hate relationship with his 'novelty' songs.
McGraw, like his wife, Faith Hill, is caught between enjoying the popularity and success brought by a string of pop crossover hits and the realisation it is the selfsame that stand in the way of his much cherished ambition to make it as a credible Country artiste.
That tension is played out in this album. For those without a finer appreciation of the roots and branches of the Country tradition the whole album seems to be an excuse for the one stadium filling anthem. In contrast, many of the Country faithfull are dismissive of the whole because of the tongue in cheek humour in one song.
I think...

Advantages: Good music throughout Disadvantages: none
...Having heard a song of TimMcGraw on TOTP2 i suddenly felt myself drawn to Country and I had to buy his album. I don't regret it for a minute.
This is just a cut above the rest and Tim deserves all his awards he's got. The music of TimMcGraw is Rock and Country combined, but far more emotional than the music of his female Canadian Counterpart, Shania Twain.
She might have sold more albums, but with Country lovers Tim is far more popular, even if his legs aren't as nice.
The album itself has got two singles: "My best friend" and "Please remember me". Both tracks are very classy and got very high in the American Charts. My favorite track is "Senorita Margerita" and I also like "Something like that".But the rest is not bad either.
If you are into New Country or even if you're not: listen to one of his songs and you will be hooked. I...
