Disadvantages: pessimistic theme and dodgy lyrics

...The sound isn’t very different to previous tracks though the guitar break in the middle is exceptional. The bass seems less rushed and at times has a more interesting rhythm to it. Again we have a relationship that is over. Why the war is lost twice is unclear. Maybe they studied it together at college so that that plus their ended relationship makes two wars lost? An apparently jolly little tune but the girl in it is lonely, ‘those days are gone,’ and the singer, ‘never needed anybody.’ So not such a perky message after all. Meet me in the bathroom Through the contrived distortion on the drums and vocal this is another puzzle with an uncle whose words in life will be contradicted by what is discovered about him when he is dead. Advantages: Some good dance tracks across genres
Disadvantages: Not as good as some of their other compilations

...and nothing original. I had high hopes for Junior Jack's E Samba as I had liked some of his others (notably Stupidisco from Hed Kandi: Summer 2004), but the excessive Samba beat and Spanish vocals did nothing on an album full of something similar, although I may have preferred this on its own or in a different mix. I wasn't surprised that Manbana's No Reason did not impress me as I found the whole disc mainly unimpressive. K&M featuring Joy's Pink is the Colour was an unusual choice (also featuring on Disco Heaven 01.05). I wuite like the track thought Joy's voice sometimes annoys me. The last (thankfully) track on Beach House disc was Hardsoul together with Ron Carroll on a track called Back Together. This is more of a smooth disco track rather than a chill out or sambaesque track so I liked it more than most on this disc, but it was still... Read review

Advantages: An absolutely fabulous Harry Potter score that has been worth the wait
Disadvantages: "Do the Hippogriff," "This is the Night" & "Magic Works"

...composer he has of late been somewhat out of the public sensibility with several low key scores for films such as "Bridget Jones' Diary", "Calendar Girls" and "Nouvelle-France" that are either more pop song oriented or obscure films. With Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Doyle has finally produced a score that harks back to those wonderfully huge orchestral efforts that he used to produce with such skill. The score for Goblet of Fire is rooted in two different moods. One is the magical sense of its surroundings and people, which has this kind of flightly and dreamy quality that waltzes above everything with grace and, well… sense of magic. The other is the more dramatic thriller type music that creates much of the forboding sense of danger the story requires.
