if you could only own one jam album this would have to be it, its packed full of great tracks, many of which arent hits you would recognise as singles, some of which include Private Hell, Little Boy Soldiers, Saturdays Kids and of course The Eton Rifles.
Bruce Foxtons reworked Smithers-Jones sounds fantastic with its orchestral backing.
The album was originally due to be a concept album about 3 friends growing up but only a handful of tracks turned out this way due to album release dates.
After 3-4 listens of the album you will realise just how strong and poignent this record is and after even more listens you notice how clever and meaningful Weller's lyrics are.
At times the record can be downbeat, gritty and political but in other tracks Weller shows his optimism and hope.
The Jams Setting Sons is a truly great album which i would reccommend to anyone.
