Seven Drunken Nights
Review of Dubliners - Hmv Easy by  mandyco

Advantages: Songs have real meaning
Disadvantages: None

...this through the seven drunken nights. I would recommend Irish music to anyone, who likes to listen to songs with true meaning. I would recommend the following Dubliners songs. Leaving of Liverpool. McAlpines Fusiliers. The town I loved so well. The Irish Rover with the Pogues. Walzing Matilda.... Read review

Don't Give Up 'Til It's Over
Review of 40 Years - Dubliners (The) by  Andy.mack

Advantages: A good collection of 20 songs from the 40 years, Good drinking tunes
Disadvantages: Nowhere near a big enough compilation of their best songs.

...that has come out of the scene. It has a very mellow and eerie sound o it but it very relaxing and his voice sounds superb. The next song I move onto is probably my favourite Irish song well joint favourite with one I’m going to get too shortly. The first song is “Seven Drunken Nights” a Dubliners original this song just has great lyrics and the music sounds superb as well. The song is lead by the guitars and is basically about a guy who gets drunk every night and comes hone and sees things he doesn’t recognize, because it belongs to his wife’s bit on the side, and basically its him asking and her coming up with some excuse for it. It really has to be heard to believe but its a good song and a true classic as far as the band goes. The next track is three from the end and is called “All For Me Grog”. it’s got a fast beat carried along... Read review

If music be the food of love play on.....
Review of Collection, The - Dubliners (The) by  mikefnw75

Advantages: Wide range of music, superb musicians
Disadvantages: Accents may take time to understand, IRA references may offend

...What do you do when you are drunk? No I mean really drunk. When you senses have left you and you find yourself collapsed on the sofa. What do you think of? What do you want? When I'm a bit the worse for wear I want many things ( best not to go into them now but I'm sure you could guess most of them) but there is one thing I know will satisfy. The Dubliners collection is the perfect CD for this occassion. *** The Band *** The Dubliners are not your run of the mill Irish band. Oh no, to be sure there not! They had a top ten hit in the UK in 1967 with Seven Drunken Nights and they have had hits with Black Velvet Band and Never Wed an Old Man. They take there name from the James Joyce novel ( if you have read this hats off to you; I am an English graduate and I still have yet to tackle it). They play Irish folk music... Read review
