Seven Gates Of Hell, The (The Singles 1980-1985) - Venom

Advantages: Unpredictable, relentless thrash metal from the Underworld.
Disadvantages: Long song lengths lack discipline.

...sound first surfaced on the band's previous release, the four-track E.P. 'Haunting the Chapel,' rather than the 1983 debut 'Show No Mercy' which ran more along the lines of the darker side of the British heavy metal scene, seemingly particularly influenced by the Satanic band Venom with whom Slayer would tour following the release of this album. This Venom and Motörhead influence is still audible in 'Hell Awaits,' but to a far lesser extent, as this is the first Slayer album to set the band's distinctive and highly influential sound, despite the overwhelming plaudits of its successor 'Reign in Blood.' Advantages: DMX's RUFF RYDERS ANTHEM / superb lyrics, amazing DARK production, gritty flow - BITES!
Disadvantages: DMX's lyrics can be X-plicit and frightening for young children - SO WATCH OUT, GRRR!

...' and that CAN'T be good. Irv Gotti creates the beats for Top Dawg Productions and are copied from Edwin Starr's song, 'Eastin In'. The beats are simple, being composed of lacklustre, American city drums and guitar samples. Irv Gotti's beats can get quite boring and doesn't really do DMX and CRIME STORY any justice. Rating: 5/10 13. STOP BEING GREEDY (3:37 min) After a dull track, DMX quickly gets fired up again one of my all-time favourite hardcore tracks - STOP BEING GREEDY. STOP BEING GREEDY is the track that DMX released as his second single off 'IT'S DARK AND HELL IS HOT'. PK handles his dark production beautifully by mixing haunting church organs, sharp violin loops and barking sounds of dogs (i.e. arf arf) to create an intense beat. ...." Strummer's real name was John Mellors and he was almost 24. Strummer knew he wanted something like the Pistols had shown was possible and he started looking around for something else. He came upon it when he met 21 year old guitarist Mick Jones and his friend, 20 year old bass player Paul Simonon. The duo had met when Simonon briefly joined Jones' band, London SS, the previous year, and broke that band up to start a new combo. During that August the three of them, now managed by Bernie Rhodes, a would be Malcolm McLaren, formed The Clash, named after reggae band Culture's single 'Two Sevens Clash', which revolved around the supposedly ominous double seven of the year to come.
