Vai and Townsend together really work well and I feel really drive this whole creation well.
Compared to Passion & Warefare (Vai's previous solo album) this is definately a step in the right direction.
I've got to admit - it's been in my car for over 3 years now and I never get tired of it.
Advantages: a good mix of ballads and hard rock tunes Disadvantages: not everyones cup of tea
David Coverdale's Whitesnake brings us a fantastic mix of blues and rock. Great ballads like Sailing ships and Deaper The Love, heavy rock tunes like Slide it in, Slip of the tongue, kittens got claws to name just a few.
On this album David asked SteveVai to play lead guitars, the latin american instrumental seven string axe wizzard sertainly does play some mean guitar solos and melodies. SteveVai and Adrian Vandenburg sertainly made this a very enjoyable album. Look out for SteveVaiSex And Religion album, which has the Whitesnake lads as guests.
Whitesnake is not everyones cup of tea but I would put this album as one of the best Whitesnake albums to date.
Although david does have a good voice, a few times he screams especialy on the song slip of the tongue.
A great variety of very good songs and guitar solos.
A must buy ...

Album Reviews
Musician (8/93, p.54) - "...the guitarist does indeed seem capable of summoning light without heat...a churning, propulsive, unpredictable kind of highbrow hardcore, with a crafty pop overlay and a liquid-cherry center of post-adolescent angst and rebellion...[vocalist Devon Townsend] makes Axl Rose sound like Johnny Mathis... Audio Magazine (11/93, p.105) - "...Vai's legendary axe dexterity is kept more within song contexts than expected, though `accessibility' doesn't diminish the soloing or intellect...."
