changed in 1967, though, when John, Paul, George and Ringo (with "A Little Help" from their friend, producer George Martin) created an undeniable work of art which remains, after 3-plus decades, one of the most influential albums of all time. From Lennon's evocative word/sound pictures (the trippy "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds", the carnival-like "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite") and McCartney's music hall-styled "When I'm 64", to Harrison's Eastern-leaning "Within You Without You", and the avant-garde mini-suite, "A Day in the Life",Sgt. Pepper'swas a milestone for both 1960s music and popular culture in general.--Billy Altman

Advantages: An album full of modern classics. Disadvantages: It's only 14 tracks long
...SgtPepper's LonelyHeartsClubBand, is a great comedy album. It's nice to see that the Beatles weren't afraid to poke a bit of fun at themselves, and even though lots of the songs aren't what you'd call serious, they're still an awful lot better than some of the drivel that's created today. I'd love to see Oasis sink themselves to the level of putting a song like 'When I'm Sixty-Four' onto one of their albums, they're far too up themselves to do that. Perhaps the only band who don't take themselves too seriously are Travis, come on, they did release a cover of 'Baby One More Time'!
Anyway, back to the album. Every song on it is a modern classic, particularly 'A Day In The Life'. Lennon and McCartney were fantastic melody writers but the use of lyrics here is so good, it's positively poetic.
So, if you haven't got it already...

Advantages: production, experimentation and creativity Disadvantages: not a sitar fan
...in the life’.
The final track of the album is ‘A Day in the Life’ and my word what a song! Epic is the first word that springs to mind. Truly original also and totally unsurpassed by pretty much anything that has come in British music since (with Bohemian Rapsody being perhaps the only exception). I find it a hard song to describe, it is just the culmination of everything the band experiment with on the album. Swirling dream-like vocals, as well as bluesy-rock vocals for the latter half of the song. Big strings and orchestral sections, with the piano being key in both halves of the song.
An album truly fitting of it’s classic status, I’ve also added an out of five rating for each track below.

Advantages: Funny, humourous good quality Disadvantages: quite short
...Its very hard to rate a Beatles albulm and say you don't like after listening to SgtPeppersLonelyHeartsClubBand I can definatlet see why! Growing up listning to the likes of Queen, Rolling Stones and The Beatles I automaticaly like the sound of the albulm but also when you listen to the lyrics and the melodies alot deeper in thought than you can really see the talent that John, paul,George and Ringo sweated out into this albulm. The best song which I totally adored for its orginality and humour was "Lovely Rita Meter Maid" even though I cant undersatnd why anyone would fall in love with a traffic warden!
Definatley one to buy for your dad, husband, Mum (if shes a Paul McCartney fan!) and if your a young teenager who quite like The Beatles (like me) then this is also a good buy....
