Advantages: A CD that can be listened to anytime, anywhere.
Disadvantages: Just a couple of weak tracks

...In this CD we have what is arguably the very best of Shadows music. Originally released in 1961 and 1962 respectively, what we have here is their first two albums rolled into one, THE SHADOWS and OUT OF THE SHADOWS, making it good value for money. The first album sees the group with their original line-up of Hank Marvin,Jet Harris,Bruce Welch and Tony Meehan; while in the second Jet and Tony are replaced by Brian Bennett on drums and Brian Locking on bass guitar. It was this change of line-up that altered the Shadows sound to what we recognise today. Previous to this the group had a raw, rocky edge to it, emphasised by Jet Harris's style of bass playing, and Tony Meehan's penchant for playing a highly-tuned snare drum. ...– a CD collection of Shadow’s early 90s material. DJ Shadow is apparently currently working on his next solo album, due for release in September. If you go to www.cdnow.com and do a search for this album, you can listen to samples of every single track on this album, but beware, the sections of the tracks chosen are not always representative of the whole track. So, if you don’t like the bit you hear, it may not mean you won’t like the rest of the track. Some of the tracks are only 30 or 40 seconds long, and then other tracks are 7 to 9 minutes long. The album has some really beautiful tracks on it, in particular Midnight In a Perfect World, and Changeling, as well as Building Steam with a Grain of Salt. Apparently the Japanese release of this album includes 2 bonus tracks “Red Bus Needs to Leave”... Read review
