Advantages: An honest opinion of a young bloke living a normal (!) suburban life Disadvantages: Not for sensitive folks!
...A friend recommended this album to me, but having heard him compared to the Streets, I blew it off as 'not my thing'. However, I gave it a chance, and this album stops just after the line of genius. The bloke looks about 15 and speaks like he cant even spell GCSE, but, put a guitar behind the voice and out comes a lifetime of experience in an honest and infectious vocal performance. Highlights are "If you got the money" and "Alicia Quays". If I had to chose a 'weaker song' I would have to say "Sheila", it's a little too chav for my liking. If you like music you can relate to, and find other artists just miss the mark, this is something you cant do without. BUY IT, BUY IT NOW!...

Advantages: Good introduction to the band Disadvantages: Only six tracks
...of teenage angst:
"I never thought those times would last forever, but now that they're gone I'm pretty sure we grew up too fast."
How many of us have thought this before?! Even though it is a sad song, like nearly every Ataris track, there is a positive angle, a glimmer of hope. In this case it's the conclusion that:
"I won't say goodbye.
Won't ever say goodbye.
And know that...I'll always be your friend."
=My So Called Life=
"So I sit in my room and watch 'Romeo and Juliet' a thousand times. I wish I was as cool as Leonardo is...but I'm not"
A love letter to actress Clare Danes (the above line referring to Leonardo Di Caprio, whom she co-starred with in the film 'Romeo and Juliet'). A lovely song that mixes fantasy (once again) with a sarcasm not really seen from the band before this. Kris Roe, refreshingly, makes fun of his shortcomings...

oh so soothing Review ofAdore - Smashing Pumpkins (The)by
loosing_faith
Advantages: very slow, mellow music Disadvantages: may be to slow for some
...an other pumpkins album added to my collection and once again the disappointment is kept at bay by great music. this is deffinetly a lot slower than "mellon collie and the infinite sadness" which really is no let down (especially not when you want slow music). the opening track on the album, "to sheila", is such a soothing track and it must be said that this is really billy corgan at his best. the lyrics are incredible and really make you feel as though you are somewhere else. "to sheila" is then followed by song upon song of very calming and sometimes sad music which is what gives this album its great mood. although the songs are fairly slow, they do have a very special side to them which is usually accompanied by very good background rhythms. the lyrics are performed excellently by billy corgan and are also very "deep"
the inlay...
