Having never been a big fan of albums and finding many in recent years to be peppered with bland filler tracks to buttress the obligatory 3 singles - Timbaland's 2007 release came as somewhat of a treat for me.
The album is a fantastic mix of styles, tempos and artists, and it seems that Timbaland has gone all out in putting every piece of his best material into the CD. With everything from rocky tracks featuring Fall Out Boy (One and Only) to pop/r'n'b with One Republic (Apologise) and even a cameo from Elton John (2 Man Show) this album has something to offer almost every listener.
The album is packed with gems that will live on long as some of the best from the decade with 'The Way I Are', 'Apologise' and the perfect driving track 'Scream' all appearing. Whilst some songs are less memorable - 'Come and Get Me' featuring 50 Cent being one such track - and the quality of the lyrics is a slight mixed bag, the majority of the tracks are upbeat, tuneful and slick ventures, with top-draw production. What makes the album all the more stronger is the way that such different genres fit seamlessly together, and you could be forgiven for thinking you were enjoying a well put together mix-tape.
If you're after a hot slice of music to pump out on a long car journey, to blast out at a BBQ this summer or just for a late-night house party then this is the album for you. I'm not a massive fan of Urban music but this certainly ticked all the boxes for me in terms of production, melodies and beats. Well worth a buy!
