...Patrizio Buanne's debut album, "The Italian", backed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, is more than outstanding, and full of surprises. You can tell by Patrizio's vocal styling who his influences have been. With a powerful voice similar to that of Engelburt Humperdinck, Patrizio also has Elvis Presley's vocal quiver, Jerry Vale's timing and grace notes, and the high-noted cry in his voice that Tom Jones use to have. About his songs: "Il Mondo" is the hit on this album. With it's dramatic orchestral opening and Patrizio's soaring emotional vocals, you only need to hear it twice, and you're hooked. "Amore Scusami", has almost the identical orchestration and arrangement as Jerry Vale's hit version and is superbly sung by Patrizio, with some nice grace notes... Read review

...Elvis Costello ushered in 1982 with an extravagant New Year’s show at London’s Royal Albert hall, at which he and the Attractions were augmented by the weight of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Meanwhile, on either side of Christmas and the New year, Elvis had been ensconced in London’s AIR Studios, recording his seventh album. Eventually released in July, Imperial Bedroom was obviously intended to be regarded as a major statement. A suite of songs looking for a vague narrative thread, the record was overproduced and overblown. Costello’s voice was everywhere, overdubbed and overbearing; Steve nieve’s keyboards were uncharacteristically prominent, while Pete Thomas’ mighty drumming was reduced to a flat pat. The Master was distinctly off form and looked drained of his creative juices.... Read review
