... When I discovered he was releasing a second album, Showtime, I rushed out and bought it, and people were saying that it was just as good as his debut. However, after the initial excitement, I found that the Dizzee Rascal "novelty" was wearing off.
His lyrical style and touches of humour ... Read review

winner Dizzee Rascal would see this UK Garage prodigy turn his back on the Hackney estates and tighten ties with the American hip-hop fraternity. Thankfully, this is a good a time as any to say 'You can take the boy out of Bow but you can't take the Bow out of the boy', for Showtimepresents a Dizzee bolder, brassier, but no less indebted to his grimy past. It's all here - lo-tech video game production ("Stand Up Tall"), bizarre threats of violence ("I'm 5'10", chocolate skin/ I'll punch you in your nostril, I'll punch you in your shin," goes "Everywhere"), and frequent flashes of lunatic humour that elevate Dizzee above his UK Garage peers: take "Dreams", which uses a sample of Captain Sensible's "Happy Talk" to bemusing and hilarious effect. Sober reflection remains part of the Rascal worldview, as on "Imagine" - a truly fragile wisp of synth and strings reminiscent of Aphex Twin's ambient moments. But balance is crucial, and that comes with stone-cold playa anthem 'Girls', performed alongside curiously high-pitched Dizzee affiliate Marga Man: "So much gash, no time to rest" --Louis Pattison
Advantages: Excellent rapping, as always, and Dream is brilliant Disadvantages: It lacks the originality and excitement of his debut
...would probably recommend listening to Showtime first, bearing in mind that this is easier to get into, and that the DVD features three of the best songs from Boy In Da Corner anyway. If you like this, launch straight into Boy In Da Corner. And if you listen to Showtime after already hearing Boy In Da Corner, as I did, you are likely to be disappointed with this effort.

...and second time round??....
Showtime has alot more breakbeats, electric sounds and dizzee often spittin furry. Showtime’ sees the Rascal leap beyond the ‘grime’ scene that spawned him. Dizzee confidently weaves his vocal thrust through glitchy twists that’d do any rap head proud. Each piece of skill crafted and shaped into a fine piece of Art.
"Dream" is an example of a great relaxing track, female vocals takes you to another place....into a relaxing ... ...ghetto, great illustration of the mixture of his talent.
fabulous ' Stand Up Tall' - neither more nor less than the hit of the year? Dizzee seems to control its tools more here, showing he is a seed slowly growing into a full blown star.
This album focuses on the more happy areas of his life, because its safe to say he is out of his boy in da corner struggle and now ready for some showtime. But the album also shows essense of his childhood, freqently ...

Advantages: 15 tracks plus DVD Disadvantages: Low quality beats
This is the second album from the UK\'s veteran Grime/Garage/UK Hip-Hop star. His hit debut album \'Boy in da corner\' which featured great tracks like \'I Luv You\' and ‘Fix Up Look Sharp’ but the second album unfortunately doesn\'t have the same originality and heavy lyrics. In this album Dizzee spits (raps) bars (lyrics) about growing up in in the working class Borough of Bow and things that happen in the endz (area) and his rise to fame. The ... ...opinion not up to the standards of Garage beats of today. But the album is good value for money, 15 tracks plus a DVD which has videos ‘Fix Up Look Sharp’, ‘I Luv You’, ’Stand Up Tall’ and ‘Just a Rascal’. My favourite tracks on the album are 09.Get By ft. Vanya and 12.Girls ft. Marga Man. ...
