here, they had been together for more than a decade. There is a lustiness and power to the playing throughout the orchestra. From the lilt and swagger of Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite No. 1 to the sensuous humor of Grieg's Norwegian Dance--made memorable for oboist Ralph Gomberg's solo playing--Bernstein brought out the best from this strong and virtuosic orchestra. Here, Sibelius's Valse Triste is all grace and elegance. The Swan of Tuonela is superb for it's dreamlike pacing and the marvelous English horn playing. Finlandia makes a perfect finale. All this music is evocative and it remains in motion every moment, however subtly. --Gwendolyn Freed

Advantages: tons of new features, which makes using Sibelius quicker and easier than ever! Disadvantages: price, takes a while to get used to the shortcuts if you've never used Sibelius before
Sibelius 6 is the latest version of Sibelius notation software. Each new updated version contains better and improved features, and new functions, designed to make musician's lives easier when composing, arranging, playing back, amongst other things.
I have to admit, whilst I am an avid fan of Sibelius, and have been using it since I first got Sibelius 2, (way back in the early 2000s!!) I haven't always found the updates in the new versions to be particularly useful for my needs, and for the price it costs to buy and then to upgrade, that can be a little disappointing. None-the-less, I use this software a lot, both in my studies and for fun, and would not be without it, and I have to say the improvements in Sibelius 6 are well worth the price of upgrading in my opinion!
Here's a brief list of the updated features, which I'll then talk ...

Advantages: A fantastic program for writing music; Great looking scores; Far better than the competition Disadvantages: Stupidly expensive
>> INTRODUCTION <<
Sibelius 2 is essentially (as you may have guessed from the name if you?re into any classical music) a piece of software for writing music. That is, it allows you to transfer any musical ideas you may have onto paper (or the screen if you don?t print it out) using conventional music notation. In the same way that you may use a word processor to complete that essay due in next week, Sibelius can be used to print out and save musical ?scores? (just a complete set of musical notation for a particular tune or other piece of work). It would be fairly easy in this op for me to waffle on about musical jargon, so I?ve tried hard to explain complex terms so that those with some interest shouldn?t find it too hard going language-wise.
This is quite a specialist piece of software operating in a market where, it seems to me ...

period and one of the reasons he is held with such high regard in Finland is that he was working at a time when Finland was forming a strong sense of national identity. It was an important time for the arts generally in Finland and the dominant architectural style seen in the capital, Helsinki, also originated during this period and was strongly influenced by Finnish heritage and themes from nature.
Appropriately his best known works reflect this; Finlandia, the Karelia Suite and the Swan of Tuonela are famous the world over and are performed regularly in Finland in particular. Sibelius wrote seven symphonies and it is believed there could be an eighth although what exactly he did write in later years is unclear.
