...Remember the winner of the third series of the British talent show The X Factor ? Well the twenty three year old Hackney girl has finally released her debut album Spirit , after leaving fans with eleven months of waiting for it. The album includes a list of thirteen memorable tracks ; each one co-written by the singer. Spirit consists of up tempo songs such as 'Better In Time' as well as beautiful ballads such as the emotional 'Footprints In The Sand' which were this years charity Songs for Comic Relief. The Singer sometimes referred to as the 'younger version of Whitney Houston' really gives it her all on this CD. Leona puts thought and effort into each note she sings and lets her personality shine through each phrase. Review of Spirit (Deluxe Edition/+DVD) - Leona Lewis by  xdonzx

Advantages: Good Songs , Voice!
Disadvantages: Money Making Scam!!!!!!

...announced that Leona will re-release Spirit with a couple of new songs. This is the album that I will now review. When I heard that Leona Lewis was releasing a 'newer' version of her number one album Spirit , I was curious. I already had a copy of the original version and was very pleased with it. My immediate thought when I heard about the 'deluxe' version was : 'what an easy way to make money out of the fans'. I decided , as much as I love Leona , I wasn't going to put more money into her pocket by purchasing something I already had with only one or two changes. So when my friend (who is also a massive fan of Leona) told me she had recently bought this album , I was desperate to know what all the fuss was about without parting with my hard earned cash , and so I asked her if I could borrow it. High Spirits
Review of Spirit - Leona Lewis by  mummy2harry

Advantages: Some lovely songs, Leona has a great voice
Disadvantages: Full of ballads, no up-tempo numbers

...?? I was actually really impressed by the whole album. It sounded really polished and that Leona had given her heart and soul to each track in turn, making them the best that they could be. It may have taken her nearly a year for this album, but it really was worth the wait. Each song brings out a different area of Leona's voice, although I did expect more powerful ballads along the lines of her two singles Moment Like This and Bleeding Love. I would say the lack of "power ballads" is the largest disappointment of the album, as a voice such as Leona's is made for a power ballad. The majority of songs are ballads so if you aren't into slow songs, then this CD probably isn't for you. But if you enjoy a wonderful soft and silky voice who you can just chill out to, Spirit is the one for you. A superb debut, and I look forward to Leona's second... Read review
