Depeche Mode The Singles 81-85 is a 17 track album produced in 1998 by Mute Records Ltd. All song on the album are written by M L Gore except 01-03, 16 and 17 by V Clark.
DM are David Gahan, Andrew Fletcher, Martin Gore, Alan Wilder/Vince Clarke.
Vince Clarke was a member of DM in 1981 and appears on tracks 01-03,16 and 17 only.Alan Wilder was a member from 1982-1995.

...by Betty Page/sounds 81 and also by Chris Bohn/NME 81 as 'Deadpan vocals,programmed rhythm rejoinders and a candyfloss melody'.

Being in my early 20's I discovered this group in my teens as a 'happy accident'. I find this album dark, deep, thought provoking.It can be difficult to listen to initially and tracks like 'Blasphemous Rumours' can be a little offensive to members of the Christian faith. My favourite tracks are Somebody, Blasphemous Rumours and People are People.This album is a steal at around £5.00. As you may have gathered by now DM are very much a controversial group who's music have split oppinion for generations.
I myself feel that you have to broaden your musical horizons as much as possible and even Chris Martin ( from ColdPlay) cites DM as a musical influence.
