Break Up To Make Up?

Advantages: Jennifer Aniston, very relatable
Disadvantages: Not for everyone, comedy falls flat.

. If it were up to me this movie wouldn?t be called a romantic comedy instead opting for the drama title. Don?t be mislead by the comedy element which is supposedly entailed in the film, there aren?t many laughs. Vince Vaughn does his best to be humorous but ends up playing the same character that he always does, at times you can tell that he?s trying his hardest to steer away from his comedy roots but playing it straight simply doesn?t work for him. He plays a real slob in the movie and doesn?t come across as very likeable at all, infact even when they break up Gary shows hint of emotion which you would show if you had just split up with someone after four years together. All in all I found Vince Vaughn to be a huge disappointment. Jennifer Aniston on the other hand was superb, the world already knows that she?s a brilliant comedy ...

Review of The Break-Up (DVD)

Enjoyable break up

Advantages: Great acting, most people will be able to connect with the story
Disadvantages: None

I went to see this when it was in cinemas and liked it so much that when it came out on DVD I went straight out and bought it. The film was written by Jeremy Garelick and Jay Lavender and even Vince Vaughn did part of the story and the film was directed by Peyton Reed. The story: The film, hence the name, is about a couple who break up and how it effects both of them as they are still living in the same home together while they wait to sell it. However, neither of them really wants to make way for the other so there are lots of comedy moments during the film and it isn't all serious! The film also follows how it affects their joint friends as normally the group of them do everything together and as you can imagine this suddenly is an awkward position to be in when you don't want to offend either one of the couple ...

Breaking up is hard to fake

Advantages: Some amusing scenes, most people should be able to relate to it at least in part
Disadvantages: Lags a bit script wise in the middle, its not all funny

Brooke gets annoyed and disillusioned as she feels that she's not being listened to properly and so she decides to break up with him in an effort to get him to apologise and realise how much he'd miss being without her.
