Advantages: A masterclass in arranging and playing Disadvantages: None
..., the lengthy but involving "La Nevada" (another "sketch of Spain"). His piano work is never ostentatious, however; he prefers to use it as a platform from which the horns, guitar and bass can then improvise. Coupled with his shorter, delicate "Sunken Treasure", they define the record's terms.
As an addition there's HoraceSilver's "Sister Sadie", which is not available on some CD (or LP) versions of Out of the Cool. It is different in style than the other pieces - more conventionally swinging - but, like everything on here, it is expertly handled. It also brings the CD up to a respectable running time.
The orchestra members do a fantastic job with what must have been very demanding material and treatment....

Advantages: Stunning songs with blistering guitar playing Disadvantages: None
...This album came out in 1967. It was reissued with 6 extra tracks on CD.
If this album was released today by a new artist , it would still have the same effect. The album is pure magic. Given the state of the art of recording in the late sixties it is incredible how fresh and groundbreaking this album sounds today.

Advantages: Remixes and re-recordings Disadvantages: Old material
...This was Kiss' first compilation LP (not including The Originals) na dwas released due to the members having some time off from touring and also to help them sit down and write songs for their solo albums.
There is one re-recording - Strutter '78 - with the rest being taken directly from the previous albums. Some songs were given a slight remix or have their endings changed, such as Detroit Rock City having a sudden stop instead of crashing car noises.
In its original vinyl form, it was first released as a double LP in a very glitzy silver (platinum?) double sleeve. The CD however does not have this, but does manage to have all tracks confined to one disc.
Not the best compilation Kiss have done, but bad by any means....
