skeletons from the closet is a best of album from the grateful dead. the albums consists of 11 tracks including the classics 'truckin', 'sugar magnolia' and 'turn on your love light'. the song selection is generally excellent and provides a good cross section of the bands music. there are acoustic based songs such as 'firend of the devil' and rosemary' along with the typical electric guitar based 'st stephen' and 'casey jones'. the music is generallt fairly laid back as you would expect from one of the most popular bands of the 60s counter-culture.
lyrically, the songs tend to be fairly simple, but they are still good and are usually pretty catchy. the guitar work is proficient throughout. the album includes an extended live versionof 'turn on your love light' which is probably the highlight of the album.
overall this is a very solid collection that is a good place to start if you are new to the grateful dead.
