My partner has just bought the new Eminen album. I especially like the hit ‘the real slim shady’. This has been knocked off, of the UK charts by The Corrs though. I like the tunes Eminem has used, but I am not a big fan of the language and ideologies behind the lyrics of his songs. Why can’t he use the same tactics that Will Smith uses. He advocates a positive image rather than the negative bad boy rapper image that Eminen takes on. What is Eminem trying to prove? Eminem, whose real name is Marshall B Mathers III, the title of his current album also, is deliberately offending people with his style of entertainment. Eminem is a Grammy award winner and has a multi million pound fortune as a result of his success, but is some of his behaviour/attitude really necessary? The rhythms, beat and sounds are brilliantly used on the album, but there is bad language and negativity used frequently – why I don’t know. I think it goes against his obvious talent and portrays negativity in an already messed up society. The album would be excellent if obscenities and abuse were not used. I would say buy it for yourself and make up your own mind about it, because as you can tell I have a fairly split view on this music. Parental guidance for young children is definitely advised!
