For a debut album, this is incredible. Opening with an epic nine minute long track , this album grabs your attention with its intensity and anger, but there is more to this band than just relentless heaviness. The long songs may no be to everyone's taste, but within those songs are moments of quiet beauty, followed by explosions of speed, which show what great musicians these guys are. Despite two unremarkable tracks (one of which is just a minute of silence), there are more than enough great moments to justify buying this album- moments which elevate Type O Negative above the competition. Highly recommended, but be warned, this is seriously heavy, and often very bleak. But for those who don't mind that, this album is a gem.
